Were the "snipers" handing out free samples afterward, or did the Quds News Network just tacitly admit Hamas is storing .50 calibre ammunition in a hospital?

If this is so, Israeli snipers are the only ones I am aware of who are capable of firing a .50 caliber round at a target casing and all.

In their defense they are showing what type of ordnance is being used. They are not claiming that the cartridge shown was found in the hospital. I could post a photo of a jet fighter and say this is the type of aircraft being used for airstrikes without meaning that the plane was found in the hospital parking ramp.

But this leads back to Ransom's question: "Were the "snipers" handing out free samples afterward...?"

I believe that both of you are assuming that the photo is actually in Gaza at a hospital which I seriously doubt.

Because Hamas would never stoop to using hospitals or refugee centers to store ammo, would they?

In their defence, the tweet says it was a bullet that was "fired at the hospital," not an example of the type of ammunition that was used. I wouldn't want Hamas's propaganda to be misunderstood as saying something it was not!

There have been plenty of examples of this kind of image over the years. I first saw one during the Second Intifada--a little old lady in the West Bank holding the (unspent) rounds that had been fired at her house. Closer to home, remember that idiot reporter during the Ferguson riots who thought foam earplugs were rubber bullets? The propagandists either have no idea how a gun functions, or they rely on their audience not knowing. It's surprisingly persuasive.

Yes, there is the distinct possibility that a Palestinian propaganda mouthpiece is fabricating an entire story out of thin air.

from the looks of it that 50 caliber round in the picture is not even usable.... unless the photograph itself was tweeked then the cartridge itself was damaged - and the bullet appears to be disodged from it;s casing and bent to the left..... . it would never load normally into a 50 cal machine gun chamber and would cause the gun to jam... which would then cause the operator to pull back the action and charge the weapon twice - thus ejecting both the damaged shell and one good one to restore the gun to a loaded usable condition.... in combat those kinds of live ejected shells are usually left where they lay.... .. . so as much as i hate to defend anything said by hamas it might be they are right about 50 cals being used by israel in gaza.... .... but.. in defense of israel.... why is that a bad thing?..... . they are in an urban combat situation trying to break through fortified concrete walls.... something like a 50 cal ma duece is exactly what they need..... and it;s gauranteed that if hamas had them they would be using them too..... .

and on a side note.... how is it i know about this?..... a member of my family diving in honolulu harbor at the spot where a coast guard auxillary vessel opened fire in 1941 on japanese planes flying overhead on their way to attack pearl harbor... found an old corroded and sea life encrusted - but still loaded and live 50 cal shell that had been ejected from a 50 cal machine gun during combat in that very same manner.... ...it had probably fallen overboard along with other spent and empty shells during the battle.... most of which were found over the years by people diving into the harbor for various reasons.... we still have it but it;s probably in storage with other military junk.....
