He stayed summers and holidays for that bus route. Also gave LOTS of money so his bus kids could go to City Baptist and paid for the buses to roll!!

Your first step to recovery is standing and saying the words, "My name is kaba and I married a stinkin' Hacker".  :)

Not anymore!! Im married but he is no longer a HACKER!!

You are of a special breed.  There have been very few known cases of a Hacker transformation.

Here is a question.  I believe most of us feel that the bus ministry is a good thing.  What should the FBCH/HAC bus ministry look like?

I'll start things off.  I think that the organization of the bus ministry at FBCH/HAC is done pretty well.  The divisions are pretty well thought out.

Division leaders and bus captains are given too much authority when it comes to "using" college students.  Running students wide open from early Saturday morning until the early hours of Monday morning is insane.  I realize they hide it under the though pattern of "The bus ministry is the closest thing to pastoring a church".  I don't know of a pastor who keeps any where near this type of schedule.  Keep in mind that most HAC students are taking a full load of classes as well as working a full time job.

The division meetings on Saturday morning are not a bad thing.  The division leaders need to be told not to criticize other ministries.  There should be a set time for the division meetings to end.  My next thought would be the biggest change on Saturday.  There should be a stopping time set for all bus calling - possibly 5:00 in the afternoon.  This would include both unmarried and married students.  Some routes could easily be done by 3:00 or 4:00.  This would allow the unmarried students to enjoy an evening at the college or perhaps go on an activity.  This would allow the married students an opportunity to introduce themselves to their wives and children.  I honestly believe that the same attendance results would be achieved.

Sunday would be tough to change.  On the Chicago routes you have to wake the kids and go back and get them.  This means getting to the route fairly early.  Not sure that could be changed.  The SS and Jr. Church services need to get done at a time that allows all the bus workers to get back to church at least a half an hour before the evening service starts.

I'm not really sure how I feel about the night bus.  It has many positives and negatives.

I tell you what,  when you pastor a church with the world's largest bus ministry, you can do it any way you want.  Until then, stop your stinkin' criticizing and get back to your bus route so your captain can win the Trip of  a Lifetime, you stinkin' deadbeat!
