Ephesians 2:8-9...which antecedent is the gift?

We would not have grace, nor faith, nor salvation, except God gives them to us. None of it is of ourselves, all of it is from Him. Thank Him! :D

Can't argue with that!!!!!!!!

Well, as true as it is that salvation is of the Lord, there's obviously a difference of opinion as to the meaning of Scripture in regards to the origination of faith.  This passage in particular is a favorite of Calvinists to declare that faith is the gift, but the fact is that the Calvinist is usually fond of saying that non-Cals cherry-pick verses to support their position through eisigesis (and you not being a Calvinist should appreciate the notion of examining Scripture for what it actually says in this verse, which doesn't support faith as being the referent to the gifting).

And since Phil 1:28 was alluded to for support of such principles as God being the originator of faith that is the immediate and first cause of salvation, what about the possibility that Romans 12:3 allows for the fact that every human possesses some form of faith?

Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
