CW's son and family stills goes to FBC. I don't know of anyone that left due to staff firings. Of course I haven't spoken to all that many either. I know a lot of people have left of course, but how many due to staff firings I wouldn't know.

Of all the FBC people that have left in the past two years, where do they now attend church?  I know back in the 90's, Dyer Baptist, Lake Hills and Bible Baptist (Griffith/Highland) grew the most with the transfers, but I wonder if these three still get the FBC people or have they found other churches.

A good number I know go to one of the Bethel locations.

Some go to Family Christian in Munster.

Many go to one of the new start-ups.

Are you referring to Lifepointe/Brian Cassada? Southpointe?  Also Bob Marshall took a good number of his SS people and started a church too. Start ups like these?

Yes.

Again thank you all for your input...prophet, qwerty and bg . It would be hard to attend where they gave your parents the door..... It will be interesting how it plays out with Eddie ....you get what you give out............

Most of the people I know that have left FBC were looking for something less Fundy and less traditional Baptist. Of those three, I would think Lake Hills is the only one of those 3 that fit the bill. Some are going to Bethel (or one of it's extensions) and some are going to Lighthouse Church in Cedar Lake.

Was Troy Blackwell your English teacher? ???

What ever happened to Troy Blackwell anyhow???
Not sure.  Tried to look him up on the Internet but to no avail

I have seen a bunch come to South Point. It seems like many SP is a first step then they go wherever.

EL, is not going anywhere!! EL, is a political beast in FBCH.

There are maybe 30 former FBCH people at BBC in Highland, but even some of those started attending there before that July day in 2012.

Gotta ask.......  bob marshall started a split with his ss class?

He did start a church in St. John (which I really don't understand) and several families from his SS class went with him. But, from my understanding he left on good terms with Pastor Wilkerson. He still has a spot on the radio.

Did it go along with a layoff?  Or was it something else

Someone else would know better than I but Bob was there for a couple of years after schaap was finished. I think he was still on staff but am not sure. I really think, and this is my own opinion, that quite a few people stayed for a while at fbch to see how things would pan out with the new pastor. I think they were somewhat 'underwhelmed' and decided to go different directions.

How does retirement work at FBC/HAC/HBHS? Do the employees pay into Social Security? Is there an age vs. years calculation that applies like most businesses?

As for CW he was within weeks of being able to retire, it was a travesty to fire him at that point in his life. He is clearly greatly missed. The orchestra has yet to recover, it will take years to get to where it was when he left. Best Years has gone to zero.

RE was another that was let go so they didn't have to pay him retirement.
There are just a few left in maintenance.

These do leave a bad taste and are not really related to the egg man's cut-off of funds.

Dunno how the plan currently works. When my parents worked there they were paying into Social Security. I do believe that a new retirement system was put into effect after they left around 1990 or so but not sure.

EL -I think- was one of the biggest problems at FBCH since the Dave Hyles days.  He has been within arm's distance of almost every scandal that's happened there.

And Bob Marshall "started" a church?  You mean "lead a split"...even if friendly.  He has started nothing but rode coattails the entire time.

If friendly, I applaud him.  He gets to find out what real ministry is all about.
