Do you have any good wholesome Christian movie recommendations?

Does it have to be "christian?"

Not necessarily.  A movie that teaches a good lesson is fine and dandy too.  Doesn't have to be overtly Christian in its themes.

There are many, many very well made movies with good moral lessons which are perfectly suitable for children though they don't qualify as "christian."

Agreed.

While not for children, Diary of a Mad Black Woman was one of the most overtly Christian mainstream movies of the last few years. Like real life, it has its messy moments, but also shows the power of Christ (and does so very overtly) to change a person's heart.

None of these are Christian movies, but I would heartily recommend any of Larry Blamire's movies for adults and kids.  They are light-hearted, funny, and contain not even a word of profanity.

Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
The Lost Skeleton Returns Again
Trail of the Screaming Forehead
Dark and Stormy Night

The only mention of belief I can recall occurs in this exchange between Ranger Brad and Doctor Fleming:

Ranger Brad: "Say, you don't believe in those stories about the lost skeleton, do you?"

Doctor Fleming:  "Haha, Ranger Brad, I'm a scientist.  I don't believe in anything."

This would apply to everything I have seen by Tyler Perry, actually. :)

My husband's IFCK (Independent Fundamental Charismatic KJVO) aunt sent us the two seasons of 7th Street Theater.  It looks like a bunch of Christian plays the actors put on at their local community theater.

There is a license fee to show to groups.

Never saw it.  Couldn't tell you if it was well done, bad, or indifferent.  Just happened to come across the DVDs while cleaning the mail stack.

I caught a couple of episodes a couple of years ago when TBN was televising it. I thought it was pretty good, despite being somewhat low budget. Always seemed to have a good, positive message but it wasn't pushy or preachy.

The audience/group will be a mix of young and old, children included, so I'd like to avoid any thematic material that's too dark.  It doesn't necessarily have to be something that has been recently released.

I mentioned The Encounter. Well, this morning at a local thrift store I found it and we just finished watching it. I recommend it. Watch it with an unsaved friend ...

Looks like the entire movie is on Vimeo. If I get a chance, I'll check it out next week.

:)

Well, it took longer than the "next week" to get to this movie, but I'm about halfway thru watching it on Netflix and I've got to say, it's pretty good so far. Definitely doing a good job of explaining God's love, grace and mercy.

Who knew Sting could act outside of a wrestling ring. :)

my experiences in making movie recommendations on the previous fundamentalist forum... taught me that i should never make movie recommendations on a fundamentalist forum..  :-\ .. ...  so therefore.. ..  i have decided.. rather than suggest movies i think fundamentalists should see... i will suggest movies i think no fundamentalist should ever see...... ..  :) ....  that might work better.....  ;D

I do not go to movies.  Personal thing.  However, I will recommend one.  "PEACE CHILD"
