I was saying that for a fan of Barry Lynn and John Shelby Spong you are a pretty conservative dude.  What's the matter, Dobson's politics get under your skin?  Your left-leaning libertarian tendencies reveal how much your perspective and contempt for Dobson is more like a women's libber or gay-rights activist.

But you know what really is a lol thought?  That you'd call Dobson a fundy all-the-while calling yourself "reformed".  Yeah, now that's something really to bust a gut over.

Hmm. I sort of resemble some of these remarks myself.

Right-leaning libertarian, but not a fan of Lynn or Spong.

Pro-women's lib and gay rights, to the extent that they are congruent with libertarianism.

And thus predictably little use for Dobson. I wouldn't call him a fundy, but I would call him a conservative evangelical of the kind that made me ashamed to be one, thus prompting my exit from AoG.

Reformed, or at least monergistic, in an Amyraldian way.

Yes I tend to be opposed to theocracies,  at least till the return of Christ.

Your critique sounds like those from my liberal friends.  Apparently something about my political views gets under both sides' skins.

And for that reason alone I have more respect for you, and generally the way you interact, than I do for the pious rsc2a that claims to be reformed.  He talks about taking the high road, and interacting with other people in a Christian manner, but when he is called for having his hand in the cookie jar he doesn't like it very much.

Have you stopped to consider all the different religious venues you have claimed to exit?  I read where you claim to have dabbled in the occult, etc.  Just how many different assemblies have you left in your wake?

FoF and other groups like them, and the influence they have on American conservative evangelicalism, are the reason I left AoG for TEC & ELCA.

Then why do you keep returning to "fundamental" sites?  Is it something you are missing, or just the intent to stir things up and do "evangelistic work" to pull people out of it?

What in the world are you talking about?

I think "researched" was the word I used rather than "dabbled".

I've been a Christian since age 21, some 38 years ago, and I haven't wavered in that.

I've been a regular attender at half a dozen or so churches since then, and for 38 years and several moves, I'd say that's not at all a church hopping record. I have only ever formally joined two churches, my previous AoG church and my present one.

Only one, the old FFF, and the several attempts at replacing it... of which this is by far the most successful. Someone I know from a more general Christian site invited me, and I made friends there and the place kinda grew on me. I've always been clear with everyone that I am not a fundamentalist beyond generally agreeing with the Five Fundamentals.

John MacArthur, Al Mohler, and either J.I. Packer or R.C. Sproul. :)

I kinda like Packer and Sproul. Something I can't define bugs me about Mohler. I know what bugs me about MacArthur: his "my way or the highway" attitude drives me up the wall.

Are you suggesting that playing D&D is dabbling in the occult?

I really don't know.  That's the knock I had heard about such role-playing games.

... D&D is nothing more than a game.  Anyone who makes it more than that could just as easily twist Go Fish into an occult experience.

It is if you use da debils cards to play it!

Reminds me of a comedian talking about suicide. He said you need to be careful not to embarrass yourself by picking a building too tall for you.
