Dave Hyles making things right?

He has no interest in "making things right" with any human. In his mind, God has forgiven him so that is that. In my opinion, he wants to use his past and his name as a springboard to relevancy. He wants it to be all about him. If he were truly trying to serve God, he would serve in a situation calling no attention to himself. Serving at a homeless shelter or even serving as a custodian at a small church for no pay. Something clearly altruistic - not something that calls attention to himself and how great he is now for being able to relate to other sexual predator preachers.

Clearly, from his blog and his tweets, none of our or anyone else's opinions or suggestions matter.  His past is not the problem here. Us remembering it is actually the issue and we are sinners for having those memories.

Delusional: characterized by or holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder.

Just some thoughts on this issue:

I wonder if DH feels guilt down deep on a regular basis for his actions?
I wonder if while in public he is constantly thinking, "I wonder if they know about me?"
I wonder how many times he Googles his name and reads what is written about him?

For a normal person this would be a heavy weight to carry.  I'm just not sure DH fits in that category.

I believe you are correct that DH doesn't fit into the category "normal person". I don't believe that people who exhibit sociopathic behavior feel a deep-down guilt about what they do. It is only my opinion that he probably does do a constant searching of his name and likely relishes in reading what others write about him, while at the same time looking to defend himself against any new allegations and seek pity from his circle over his continued "persecution". We who knew him and saw the disasters he left in his wake, must remember that his actions were not "normal" and none of us can point to a time where he sought to make any reparation or ask forgiveness. Even though I never liked him or supported him, I've used many of his escapades as "lessons in life" about what not to do, what can happen, etc. , in the years since I've been gone. I've never once told anyone who I thought "normal" about his deeds and had them respond in a way that condoned his actions. They've asked a lot of questions and been truly incredulous that he's not in jail or dead at the hand of some angry father or husband! Most people out here in the "worldly world"--people we were told to separate ourselves from, think that his shenanigans are pretty disgusting! If you've ever watched the YouTube video of DH speaking at his dad's funeral, you'll see EL right behind him showing enthusiastic support and agreement. As DH speaks, he mentions the "persecution" and "false allegations" leveled against his poor father, and how his dad had to "walk just above the clouds" to get past it! He forgets that some of that "persecution" was the result of DH's own actions! The consensus here in the Forum seems to be that EL knew about DH's wrongdoing, did some of his own, then was known to talk about how much DH damaged the youth department. What he's still doing there? I've no idea. During my years in that place, there was DH, EL, and GM. I believe GM has passed away, and I never trusted the other two from the very get-go. I remember DH being referred to as "The Pied Piper"! That pretty much sealed my impression in my own mind. I watched the news about what happened in 1989 and then again in 2012. I left the area years ago, but was amazed at how little had changed there as I read the internet coverage about that place. It is truly a terrible shame that so many lives had to be poisoned by all that wickedness! It is also sad that those of us who knew the truth have to keep regurgitateing it to each new bunch that shows up in Hammond! You would think that by now they'd have cleared out all of the darkness and its cobwebs to bring in Jesus and His light, so that there could be healing and a way forward. I believe that as long as they keep it all closed up and locked away, (or so they think!) God will not truly bless that church.

But this is an excellent point - the errors must be continually pointed out as long as there are those following them.
