150 pounds of crawdads = about 3 pounds of meat, right?

LOL.........a little more than that 3 pounds.

It was a little more than two of us we have 19 with just us and the 2 grands but we had about 30 folks over and there was still enough for crawfish etouffee, crawfish bisque and fried catfish tonight.  :P :D

Seriously, I love seafood, I love crawfish, clams, lobster, crabs, etc. But, being from the far north I have never learned to be able to get the meat out without a lot of labor. By the time I get all of the meat out of the crabs it is cold. Please Send Help!

that;s the beautiful thing about tako... :).... no bones... no shells... .. just chop em up and boil em.. . . you just gotta watch out for those tentacles and not let them bite you with their razor sharp beak .. while your spearing them and putting them in the bag...  ;)...

which reminds me.....  i;m a little surprised after reading posters describe how they eat crawdads and enjoy the juices in the head,  that some saw my picture of tako poke' and thought it looked disgusting....  :-\

It's the tentacles that get to me, Girly. lol

check this out...  this guy does a good job of spearing his tako....
but then can;t get him off the spear....  and the tentacles get the best of him too... .. .
you can hear his friend with the camera giggling about his dilemma ...... :D

egan owned by tako

i use a different kind of spear but i;ve had that same kind of thing
happen to me before too... . .spear fishing for tako can be difficult and tedious work.. .
but for a fresh bowl of tako poke' it;s worth it... . ;D...

They must carry a lifetime supply of ink!!!  I do enjoy squid, but only if it's julienne'd and deep-fried in a batter.  I've never had octopus, though.

Is it pig hunting season for you?

it;s always pig hunting season here.... :D... year round... . .  the pig population reduction program is still going on full force... . the overall numbers of them haven;t dropped that much.. .. but they haven;t been growing any either..... .. .. we are actually planning to go tomorrow morning to hunt a high rainforest area above the remote north shore area...... . .. it will be fun whether we actually kill a pig or not... .. but if we do get one it will all the better... .. :)

So?  How did the hunt go?  :D

So?  How did the hunt go?  :D

it went good... :D .. super hot and steamy during the day then it rained really hard at night....typical rain forest weather.. :).  .  we ended up staying over night and my dad got really big boar the next morning... . .not sure how much it weighed coz we gutted it before taking it back to camp...  but i think it was well over 100 pounds.. . too big for me to back pack..  so my dad carried it back... . the kalua pork from it took up all the extra space we had left in both our freezers plus we gave away a lot of it.... .

The potential of that pig sounds absolutely delicious! lol
