I was on the Forrestal; we were there after the spring of 86. I'm told we played around in the Gulf of Sidra... I know we did operations off the coast of Egypt in August. We also steamed up by Cypress when that airliner was hijacked.

I was on the USS Reasoner FF-1063 sailing with the Enterprise Battle Group. We were "West Coasters" that were sent through the Suez Canal the day after Libya was bombed. I believe we were there to relieve the Forrestal Battle Group and I saw your carrier and waved at it! Didn't you see me?

We missed out on some good liberty in Australia, Thailand, and a couple other places but I did get to see Naples and St. Tropez and we got the Navy Expeditionary Medal for our troubles.

Actually, you all relieved the Coral Sea which was coming up on 9 months on deployment. They almost sent us out there a month early in order to get the Coral Sea home. I remember seeing the Enterprise off the coast of Sicily.
