A definite 16 seed, but how sweet to be a Cinderella when you have a losing record.

What he said was that the Liberty University basketball team with its losing record has the privilege of being cannon fodder in the 1st round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (March Madness to most of us) to a team such as Duke, Indiana, Michigan, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I will be pulling for them.  The school will get a bucket load of money just for existing on the same floor with the big boys, and some nice name recognition as well.  And if they happened to slip up and win a game or two I would be ecstatic.  Might even break into my own dance moves like the guy in the following clip:

ok... now i get it.. ... :)  ..  i am familiar with march madness.. .. . not that i have ever watched it myself.. . . but i do know it;s the reason most of my friends suddenly have so much free time on their hands.. . .. all of their boyfriends and husbands are temporarily enslaved to their televisions... . . .. it happens every year about this time...  :) .....

No March Madness here.  I used to watch tennis and Yankees baseball.  Now I only watch the playoffs and world series if the Yankees are playing.  I'm not much of a spectator sport person.  The people at work (both men and women) can chat with each other for hours about football and basketball and I have no idea what they're talking about.  And no inclination to learn.

ummmm, excuse me?  Did you really just type that with a straight fac......errrrrm, keyboard?  ;)  No 16 has EVER one in the NCAA and you know that bro.  Won't be no David and Goliath story this time either.  I'd lovvvvve to see it, but nope, ain't no way.

Other than that, spot on interpretive skillz bro. ;)

"I see that hand".  :D

I'm guilty of Madness, though now a bit older, my case is more manageable.  I no longer leave work at noon everyday of the tournament, but, that's thanks to TIVO/DVRs.  :D

I'm shocked but of course happy they won the Big South Tournament. They have had a lot of adversity this year with injuries to key players and a couple of players quitting before finally gelling in the last 10 games. (Seth Curry, now an All-American at Duke, unfortunately but understandably, transferred to Duke after his freshman year at LU. He would be a senior this year at LU). But Anchor is right, we will no doubt be scrimmage fodder in the first round for a top seed. I was in Vegas working the first time LU went to the tournament against #1 seed UNC. I am not a gambler but as a lark and an eye towards irony I laid down a few bucks on LU to cover the spread. They actually did well and led halfway through the second half before finally losing.

Congrats also to the Lady Flames who are also going the woman's tournament.

I am shocked and amazed.

March Madness is one of the greatest spectacles in all of entertainment.  It really ought to be a national holiday so that we can watch all of the games on a wall of screens as they were intended to be observed, rather than on our monitor in our cubicle with one hand ready to click the boss button at any moment (Thanks NCAA for that wonderful feature).

Dancing Now Allowed at Liberty....kind of.  :)

complete enforcement of the Liberty Way is necessary to uphold the moral ideals and

Whereas:

the students of Liberty University recognize that there are many types of dance, some
forms of which can constitute abuses of Christian liberty and necessitate regulation and proper
oversight;

Whereas:

many students and faculty members value dancing for its cultural, historical, and social

Yeras ago, way back in the mists of time, when I was a student at Middle Tennessee State Univ. MTSU was paired to play UK in one of the very early rounds of March Maddness. When UK disposed of MTSU they were to play Louisville. This was a much hearlded and anticipated match up viewed with much enthusiasm by sports commentators the world over. Well, that night we forsook our studies and huddled around the glow of our only working TV. A scrappy little team from a state school in the middle of the State of Tennessee handed UK a sound defeat and knocked them out of the tournament.  As the final buzzer sounded the entire student population and and the population of Murfreesboro under 80 emptied into the streets in jubulant celebration. The festivities went on until dawn and classes were unofficially cancelled.

It can be done.

Amen and amen!

wow.. :o ... that;s a lot of whereas;s for only 2 recommendations...  ??? ..... ..but i take it that they probably would not consider dancing on tables, at an all girl anti-valentines party, to be an approved dance at an allowed event?...  ???.... ...  if defined right it could fall under the categories of dramatic dancing at a dramatic event....  :P .. ..  ... what about hula?... would they allow that?.. ..  i took hula dancing in high school.. along with contemporary dance...  when you;re the clumsy little sister of 3 super athletes you gotta do something to have an extra curricular activity..  ::)  .. ..  that was the safest choice that was still considered a physical challenge...

Well I'm sure hula falls under "culturally sensitive" so you're good there. :)  As for dancing on tabletops...that may take a couple more years, at least co-ed.  ;)

I wouldn't take a 500,000 to 1 odds, they do not have a good team, just got hot at the right time.  But that being said, it is good press for LU to have both the men's and women's teams in the Big Dance.  A few years ago the women's team made the Sweet 16. Happy for them.

What a good memory you will always have. Mine was the Angels winning the World Series in 2002...but I could never tell the story as well as you.

I prefer to think of it more like "casting lots". :D

I'd take a dollar or two of that 500,000 to one odds...for good old LU!
Or cast a couple of lots, if you prefer....:D

I said "50" for a reason.
