Yes...God accepts us through Jesus as we are. In fact, CU is implicitly agreeing with me in his disagreement.

God accepts us, then transforms us. The acceptance is unconditional; the transformation is inevitable.

That acceptance isn't unconditional. I imagine it does depend on when you believe regeneration takes place.

May seem like splitting hairs, but its worth a try.  God's acceptance is upon condition, He only accepts us through His Son, He does not accept us upon our own merit.

As long as we're splitting hairs, it's actually that God gives us to Jesus (step 1), and all God gives shall come to him and none will be turned away (so we're accepted as we are).

Of course this all happened in eternity past before God every created anything. God planned your condition and then planned to rescue you from that condition. The kicker is.... there is only a few God's chosen. It just happens you and rsc2a are put of that "few". What a good old Christian "Cliche".  :o

I'm open to considered other alternatives...

God's choice... is eternally in His Son. It has nothing to do with you or me. If you don't understand that facet of election, then you're seriously lost in man made dogma. I've offered to debate you on this subject before. I don't expect a different answer now.

Yes...I believe this was my initial objection to the "false" cliche given.

There are a variety of reasons I choose not to have a formal debate with you. :)

Prayers that include, "I/we bind satan."
Yes, and yes.  Last Sunday, I said, "if you can bind Satan with those words, then how come he is always loose again the next time you pray?"  Those cliches, in my observation, have a built in strong hold, letting the unclean spirits in, in the name of spiritual warfare.  They are like hocus-pocus magick words, or sorcery, if anything.  But they are not sound doctrine.
Anishinabe

"I plead the blood of Jesus over that."

Anishinabe

"Whenever God closes a door, he opens a window."

Twaddle.

"It takes three to thrive."

And so if your church's tradition doesn't include a Sunday-evening service or a midweek service, or both, you're pooched.

"I feel the Lord is leading me to . . ."

Translation: "I want to . . ."

"Better to be tired and happy, than rested and miserable."

Often said from the pulpit after the congregation was encouraged to cold-call door knock all day long before the annual Big Day.

False dichotomy

I can be rested and happy too.
