Keeps the money rolling in.

I am glad you said this.  If I hear another one of these well known pastors who speak all over the country tell me again on their radio shows about how they have no money and no retirement and are just trusting God to supply, I will puke.

And just in case someone reading this thinks that I am a little cynical, go back a couple of months and read old bg's articles and blogs and tweets. If it is not all about him then I am missing something.

Perhaps - as in almost every case - it's just best for a former pastor to move his membership when he resigns or retires or goes into evangelism.

I have been a member in a church where two former pastors retained their membership.  People don't seem to know who's the pastor.

Although I am a woman and will never be a pastor,  I still would NOT want to pastor a church where a former pastor was still a member.

I agree. However, Bob has been there for years and is usually gone on weekends. He only decided to move his membership after they started getting on him for starting another college.

Genetically, or this is how you "identify"?

Sorry, in this day and time we need to ask.

I wonder if Bob Gray will actually move to Florida or if he will continue to live in Longview and call the church in Florida his "sending church"?

He's always been all about him

I agree with you, especially in cult-like churches like BGSr used to be -- when it becomes all about winning the pastor's approval more than winning God's approval, cult of personality develops.  I've been in a church like this, and it's amazing how cultic some people get to be.

A former pastor with his ego under control, and where the people have been told to be loyal to Christ and not a man may be able to stay in the church.  But people are still people and those close to the former pastor will always be after him to second-guess the new pastor.

I assumed that he was moving to Florida; I guess time will tell.

Yes, And then he will also change the meaning of 'local church' to what BG says.

On a serious note, I know that his wife has some serious physical problems.  That's why I was wondering if they would stay in Texas close to family.

Good addition.
