I am glad you said this.  If I hear another one of these well known pastors who speak all over the country tell me again on their radio shows about how they have no money and no retirement and are just trusting God to supply, I will puke.

And just in case someone reading this thinks that I am a little cynical, go back a couple of months and read old bg's articles and blogs and tweets. If it is not all about him then I am missing something.

I have been a member in a church where two former pastors retained their membership.  People don't seem to know who's the pastor.

I agree with you, especially in cult-like churches like BGSr used to be -- when it becomes all about winning the pastor's approval more than winning God's approval, cult of personality develops.  I've been in a church like this, and it's amazing how cultic some people get to be.

A former pastor with his ego under control, and where the people have been told to be loyal to Christ and not a man may be able to stay in the church.  But people are still people and those close to the former pastor will always be after him to second-guess the new pastor.
