Bible Versions Across the US

Liking the ESV doesn't mean you're Reformed. But the majority of Reformed seem to like the ESV.

I guess that is true.  I like the ESV and have moved it to the top of my list, just over the HCSB.  The KJV will always have first place in my heart, but I prefer reading the ESV.  I do not consider myself reformed, but a Calvanist, but not a hyper-Calvanist.  In fact, I don't believe in tulip the way it is usually defined.  But I better not go there and save it for that forum.

I go to two churches on and off, both methodist, although I dont hold to any denomination. The smaller one uses the Good News Bible. The big missional church uses NIV1984. Im not a fan of either version. I like the WEB, ESV, NKJV, HCSB. I only know one church in my area that uses NKJV. Dont know any who use the other 3. If the HCSB was based on the MT, that would be my number one version, well...it is, I just wish it was MT. When a full World English Bible comes out I will use that!

My new Episcopal church seems to mostly use the NRSV. I don't like it quite as much as the ESV, but the difference is really very small.

Pew Bibles are either KJV or NIV, preacher uses KJV exclusively.

Carrying this over from the other place....

This morning finds us in the middle of the Keys in Florida. No preaching due to a guest gospel music group.

Pew Bibles were NIVs. So far I have observed about a 50/50 split between the niv and esv. Some use the hsb, fewer yet the nasb / kjv.

We're a bible church, we bring our own

NASB, NEB & NIV in this part of the world.

NEB? Seriously? Where are you?! The NEB is in use in churches?!!!!

Wow, I thought it was a dead Bible, its my favourite translation (That and the REB/CEB).

[Yes, I'm aware of my massive post further up, My tastes have changed! I have started to find many more modern translations a little bland, the NEB is certainly not bland!]

I'm not sure kiwi is still hanging around here, but I know him from other forums. He's from New Zealand. And yeah, the NEB seems to be rare outside of the British Commonwealth. I'm a fan of it too.  8)
