Baptist Music

I love any good hymn written by Charles Wesley!

Okay , bouncing off of what Eddie said about, "There's enough talent in this room to produce Baptist music for the next X number of years."

Let's ask these questions.....

He's been there at First Baptist on staff for 35 or 40 years, so how much music & as he put it "Baptist music" has been produced by the thousands that have attended FBCH and HAC over those years & in use in IFB churches?

How much music has he come up with that is in use in IFB churches?

The biggest problem with FBCH producing any useable music is that those who progress to be really good at making music have the hammer lowered on them and they go elsewhere where their talents are appreciated and further developed. A fantastic sounding quartet called Little Big Town comes to mind. They were recently inducted into the Gand 'ol Opry.

I went to School with Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town.  She use to do sleepovers at my house with my sister.  We rode the bus together everyday.  But this was Calumet Baptist and if a church is to blame for her giving her talent away to the world then a GARBC Church called Lake Hills Baptist would be to blame, not FBC of Hammond.

He was our first orchestra director until he was squashed by Schaap. Great talent went elsewhere.

Jim Belisle another excellent orchestra director with composing talent, squished.
Bethel was happy to scoop him up.
And that is they way it goes for FBCH.

Ultimately it's a much different philosophy of ministry that makes it nearly impossible for talent to remain at FBCH.
