We should send flowers.
Anyone want to go in?
I can organize it.
Usually, I send a 60 dollar arrangement to folks our church knows who pass away.
Let me know who wants to help and put their name on the card.

Do you have paypal?

I'd like to send some money for this.

I think we can do better than $60!

Come on HACker nation!!!

Ordered...$110 from Monarch Florist on Cline Avenue.
I ordered a planter with plants and fresh flowers.
Here is what I wrote on the card:
"Rick, (Balaam) was an amazing Christian with a tender heart for God.
He was well liked by everyone on the Fighting Fundamental Forums.
Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you all.
We will miss our good friend, Balaam very much, but we know he is rejoicing in the presence of His Saviour!
Your FFF pals."

On second thought, I will just put something like "From your FFF friends" or something like that.
Let me know if you want to help.
Count me in

1. Thank you, this was an outstanding gesture on your part.
2. How do I chip in?

I'm in. I will put a check in the mail in the morning.

Beautifully written obituary. Never knew him but always enjoyed reading his posts.

It was a beautiful obituary! I'm not looking for an answer, but does anyone in the forum know if his loved ones knew of his involvement in the forum? Could the flowers, and the knowledge that comes with that card upset any loved ones? Please understand that I've seen this go badly and I know that that is NOT the intention here.

I have been trying to feel that out...

His oldest girl and her husband were classmates of mine.

I p.m.ed him, explaining our online relationship a bit.

Who knows, people grieve in funny ways...

Did Rick sing when he was at the college?

His name sounds familiar.

I was sorry to read this.

I enjoyed getting to know him through the FFF, which is the only way I knew of him.

May God comfort his family, as Balaam certainly needs none!

This shows how  important it can be to be kind to someone today, for we may not be here tomorrow, or the other person may not be here tomorrow.

We have opportunities here to lift one another up, even when we disagree - do we use it as we ought? (do I, I wonder?).

We could start a thread, or threads about "What would you say about _______ if he/she was suddenly gone from the FFF?"

I remember a few posters went together and sent flowers for my mothers funeral.  I believe it said, "From the Hacker Nation".  Teri, is that correct?  I remember it brought a smile to my face.  Of course, explaining it to people who asked took a bit of time.  :)

Sad to hear. Losing somebody you did not know but yet you did........ that really works on you!

It is a bit strange.  There are many posters whom I have never met, and some who I wish I had never met (Teri :) ), yet I feel like I know them very well and would truly miss them.

His wife knows he posted here.  She will smile.
