I would think that we all can see the wisdom in what this pastor is saying.

What exactly IS he saying?
That debt is wrong?
If so, does he have a home mortgage?
Is debt only wrong if a church incurs it?

Debt is not wrong in itself.
Debt does not destroy churches and Pastors who carry debt.

Wrong principles of finance and un-biblical stewardship practices destroy churches and Pastors....and any other entity that practice such.

He is saying that going into the amount of debt that would be needed to do the project now would be unwise.  He uses logical numbers.
