A personal relationship with a mega church pastor

I wasn't at HAC too long. I did stand in line on a few or occasions for the timed 2 minutes or whatever it was. He did have an amazing ability to give you all his attention in that short span and make you feel that he cared. I felt that I could even joke with him some and he even roasted me publicly (in a jestful way). He knew me as the guy from (where I'm from) but I doubt he knew my name.  On two occasions I waited the couple months for the 15 minute appointment. The first time he flew through my questions, smiled and thanked me for saving him 8 minutes then practically pushed me out of his office. On the second he needed to check with his staff about something and get back with me and never did.

I meet him once or twice more since graduation. He was friendly, almost playful but very short. He was a busy guy and valued his time above all else...can't blame him.

He always tried to put things off because he knew if you waited long enough your problem would be solved and he would not need to spend any of his valuable time on it.

If it's an emergency today it will be an emergency tomorrow.

But most are not an emergency tomorrow so it was not an emergency in the first place.

It wasn't a matter of emergency but honor.  He promised to look into something that was told to him and did not. In fact, that wasn't the only time this happened to me. A similar thing happened(unrelated to either of my issues) to my then fiancé with the same result.  I'm not bitter, just at that point in my life I expected such a mightily used MOG to be above lies and brush offs. Though still more of an idealist than I should be, I've come to expect that behavior from IFB pastors probably more than most any other group of people.
