A Name From the Past...

Also I seem to recall lots of BOBs.

I always had trouble keeping them straight.
BobH still pops in once in awhile, but he’s a Michigan fan so people just ignore him 😉

Bob Jones V posted until recently, he was one of the Bobs from way back.

Pastor Bob, the diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan passed away, I think.

Dr Bob, famous round here for his intellect, humor, and Calvinism still kicks it on Facebook but hasn’t came here since a few iterations ago.

Yes, Pastor Bob (later known as just "Bob" passed away a few years ago. He was also a competent Hammond B3 player as well.

But what about "Dirty Bad Bob the Mexican" and the original Bad Bob: "Bad Bob the Albino?"

And what do you call someone with no arms and legs in the middle of a swimming pool?

I am friends with Dr Bob on Facebook. I really enjoy his postings.

As am I. He went to what used to be Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wisconsin, as did I, about 14 years after him.

Chad Fletcher, a West Virginia Mountaineer who left funnymentalism. Chad was fair and balanced, insightful, intelligent.

jeri fletcher, no relation to Chad, but that didn’t stop me from teasing them relentlessly about being married 😁
jeri brought a unique former fundy and feminine perspective to the forum.

She also brought a lot of nonsense into the forum.

Jeri Fletcher wasn't her real name, it was some sort of fictional character. I won't give out her real name out of respect for her privacy. We are friends on FB but she hardly ever comes up on my feed.

I was being charitable 😁, as I fought with her over her jibberish regularly, but she brought “personality” to the forum😆
She's a friend, but, she IS sort of off-the-wall. That won't change my friendship with her. She thinks I'm a defender of all preachers whether or not they've done something wrong. :) She's wrong, but, she can believe what she wants.

Are we talking Jeri Fletcher or Jeri Massi?

jeri fletcher was a stay-at-home mom with a slew of kids and husband she relished, whereas BASS just had a great love of beer, Dr Who, and a greater passion to skewer Baptists, lol.

Turpius Quad

He was the first member of the FFF that I met in person. That was a really long time ago, lol and my memory ain’t so good but I remember him being an interesting fellow who also had been reared in fundamentalist circles, but had left the silliness and circus environment behind.

I could handle Fletcher better than Massi. Massi and I got into it several times because she had blinders on concerning her own and any other denomination other than Baptist.

Totally agree! The only caveat that I would add is that her attacks were accurate in that most of the IFBs that were representing fundamentalism on the forum back then presented their movement as a pristine bastion of piety, whereas we are now are very aware that every Christian denomination has plenty of scandals. The second thing she was right about is that many of the people leading in those corners of funnymentalism are fundamentally flawed when it comes to their emphasis in preaching on externalism instead of or absent of the grace of God.

I can’t believe I actually just defended BASS a little bit, lol

I remember lurking on the original forum from time to time, but never posted. I was much younger then and did not want to be a target. I used the old FFF mainly as a source of opinions and sometimes facts. If the forums were newspapers, then many posters would have earned the Pulitzer Prize for their reporting.

You never knew what was fact and what was fiction, but there was always someone to defend every position.

I was thinking the other day, I wonder if I will live long enough to see the METAverse version of this forum. It might be interesting to meet & get to know many of you in a online virtual Cafe or virtual conference.
