A QUICK EXERCISE IN HONESTY:

How many would be okay with their 14 year old son being treated this way for looking at someone and clinching their fist while walking AWAY from the person thereby posing no threat to the person?  (Now let's try real hard to be honest....)

If my son refused to tell officers where I was, or refused to take them to me, and then belligerently walked away clenching his fists, then, yes, I would be okay with the officers restraining him.

Okay well we just disagree.  NOBODY slams my 14 year old child on the ground and holds him in a headlock because he doesn't like his attitude.  If I did that it would be child abuse and it is child abuse if anyone else does it.

Thanks for the clarification.  I don't think I am presenting a double standard at all but exposing one.  I simply used the story to show that others would discredit this child and his witnesses after they readily accepted the testimony of a man and his witness who has much more to lose than this child if his story is not true.

Police officers are allowed to do quite that would be classified as assault, abuse, or murder if done by a civilian in the performance of their duties.
