“It’s (medal of freedom vs medal of honor) actually much better, because everyone gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, that’s soldiers, they’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead,”

Somebody please explain to me what Trump meant by this?

so is there an actual video of this incident so we can see for ourselves what trump really said and what the context was?.... or are we just supposed to take the word of a left wing propaganda rag like CBS for it?.... maybe i missed it... but all i saw in the way of videos on the page you linked to was 2 videos of biden/harris cheerleaders praising a pair of dufusses trying to run sprints with both feet in their mouths.....

Lol. He meant what he said. So is he wrong?

Can prestige bring the dead back to life? Can it heal the maimed?

It seems to me that such prestige certainly serves a living, healthy, and active recipient much better than it does a dead or sick one.

more propaganda and yellow journalism..... this time from another left wing servant of the democrats - ABC ... .... :cautious: ....

but even so.... that brief snippet of trump speaking - (which was twisted out of context... demonized and counter explained by left wing pundits.... plus a few congressional communists posing as representatives) - sounded to me like trump was simply saying - in his own brutally honest way.... that it is much better .. for the person themselves ..to have the medal of freedom and be alive... than to be in a grave with the medal of honor draped over their marker.. ...

put another way.... ..if you had been in the military in your late teens or early 20s... and were given a choice between being killed that very day but awarded the medal of honor - or living a long life and one day winning the american medal of freedom... which would you choose?........

LOL. I love how you bail whenever you're asked a straightforward, yes or no question about one of your prejudices. 😁
I asked what he meant, you gave an non-answer, and then you repeated a different version of a non-answer. I can’t comment on what he meant with certainty because he speaks in riddles sometimes, or semi incoherently. This is one of those times.

You know me well enough to know that I don’t buy the mainstream media slant on things, I like to think for myself. The links I found that show his quote don’t provide any larger context that would clarify what he meant.

I think your answer is a fair representation of what he probably meant, but he sure could’ve said it better.

I think the gist of it is that the Medal of Freedom is better because those who receive it are still alive and/or not permanently disfigured due to combat injuries. In such a context, I would much rather receive the Medal of Freedom myself. I certainly wouldn't want to endure an absolutely hellish experience that would likely haunt me the rest of my life in order to be awarded a MOH! This I would wholeheartedly agree and I believe there was an attempt at humor here. Of course the lefty loonies will take whatever soundbite they can find, misrepresent the truth, and feign outrage over it! I really believe it is time for Trump to hire some lawyers who will specifically target these liars and start suing them for slander! It is time we start holding the MSM accountable!

LOL. I gave basically the same answer as aleshanee and BR, but you call it an non-answer. Indicting Trump for putting his 'foot in his mouth' sure looks like you had a definite idea about what he was saying. Maybe you could have said it better.

Ok, my apologies.

Indicting Trump for putting his 'foot in his mouth' sure looks like you had a definite idea about what he was saying. Maybe you could have said it better.

Dubya, bungled words and came across as foolish at times too, but Trump takes the yammering to new heights. Remember this one….

“He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured.”

My dad was a veteran, I see such statements as disrespectful to the service of man all for the sake of political gain. Taking the high road would be so much better but Trump can’t do that.

I really wish that Trump would have directed his criticism towards McCain while at the same time being respectful of his military service and refrained from the personal attacks. Such would be the epitome of acting presidential of which he often sucked at.

It would do President Trump some good if he could find someone he could trust who would have complete freedom to tell him to "STFU" (Shut The Foolishness Up) and to straighten his act up and act in a matter befitting his office.

The mainstream media is going to castigate him every time he turns around but he does not need to make their "job" easy for them.

He could really use a good image consultant.

after i looked at the links you provided i watched the entire speech.... and then tried to find as many other news reports about it as i could... and the only reports i could find about it were all from the left wing sources in bed with the democrats...and every one of them either twisted what he said... rephrased the speech on their own words to add or delete words thus changing what trump actually said... or both...... .not a single news source i would consider conservative or even neutral had anything to say about it.... .. apparently they didn;t think it was newsworthy.....

my family is filled with people who are veterans who served in various branches of the military... plus some who are active duty right now... (in both cases some of them high ranking officers)... and others who were military contractors.. and one who still is.... . and the ones i talked to about this latest "gaff" from trump said it was either no big deal or being blown way out of proportion by a left wing news media that hates trump anyway... ...they didn;t think it was newsworthy either..... and only one of them had even heard about it before i mentioned it.... ....in truth i had not heard about it either before i saw your thread on it here.... ... so... ..apparently it;s only an issue for those looking for something about trump to make an issue of.... .

but as far as mccain goes... i know plenty of veterans outside my family who think even less of john mccain than trump did..... and they know people who served with mccain on the uss forestal when a fire caused by an accidental rocket launch from mccains a4 skyhawk killed over 130 crewmen of the ship..... . they said had it not been for mccains father being an admiral he would have been court-martialed over that incident and most likely spent time in an american military prison rather than ending up a pow in north vietnam....... ..i don;t understand the mechanics or technical details of it - but they said it had to do with him trying to "hot start" his jet aircraft .. which was a very risky and prohibited thing to do - rather than waiting for the ships crews to start his aircraft using the proper machinery and procedures... .... they said they believe that attempt to do a "hot start" is what caused a rocket to launch from his aircraft and streak across the deck of the ship striking other planes on board..... ....

mccain vigorously denied trying to do the hot start method on his jet... and at the end of the investgation anything and everything was blamed for that accident other than mccain himself... .... right after that happened mccain volunteered for duty on board the uss oriskany and was shot down 4 months later... sent to the infamous hanoi hilton pow prison... where other prisoners of war would later claim mccain "sang like a canary" <-- their own words... to avoid being tortured by his captors for information.....

so trump is far from being the first or only person to question john mccains status as a "hero".... and in fact his criticism of mccain is not even the most harsh criticism out there... . it;s mild compared to what others said about him.......

but all that are things i heard from other people and then read about online..... my own personal observations and opinions about mccain - (which i posted about and got slammed for on the forums 16 years ago as they happened) - were that i believed mccains selection of sarah palin as running mate was mccains way of purposefully throwing the 2008 election to obama without coming right out and saying he didn;t really want to be president... no republican - not even mccain - wanted to own or try to fix the mess "dubya" left behind.... ...i know a lot of people on the fff loved palin and thought she was awesome..... but before he died mccain himself even said the selection of palin was a mistake that he believed caused him to lose that election.....

so....... i guess i am saying all that to say that using trumps insult of mccain - and the fact mccain was a veteran - as an example of why we would all share your dim view of donald trump doesn;t have much effect on me... .i have heard far worse about mccain from others who are veterans themselves....

the nation has been electing silvery tongued hypocrits who fit what we have been conned into believing is the "presidential" image for far too long..... and look what they have done for us... or done to us i should say.... .. ...yes... trump can be rough and abrasive.. even brash... . but i would rather see someone like that in the oval office who was honest and who we could trust to do what is right for the country - over someone who says all the right things and fits the "image"... but who will sell us out out and throw the country away with both hands.... ...once we start altering our words and actions to keep the hateful mob from criticizing us or finding fault... then all we have done is make the hateful mob our masters......

besides.... sometimes i think trump throws things like this out there on purpose like bones to a dog... to keep the haters occupied and chewing on something.. anything... so they won;t look harder for bigger things to find fault with....

the more people go ape over minor matters the more they ruin their own credibility... and they end up not being taken seriously when something big really does show up.....
