My wife got an email yesterday from the director of alumni for the Bible College she attended for a short period. The email was requesting participation at a local alumni gathering - and reminded her that she could bring anyone interested in the college.

This email made me angry.

My wife was only at the college for half a semester, she was raped by another student, nobody gave her story credibility, she left the college and still had to pay tuition for time not there ..... this all after years of being abused by her fundi-dad.

You would think the school would have something on record .... Seriously, why reach out to my wife? She didn't even complete one semester.

We asked him to never contact us again.

He did write back and said if we needed anything to ask ... we told him to never contact us again.

yeah.  I would probably have the same response.

On the flip side, but along your thread title - I continuously asked my alma mater to stay in touch with me through their new alumni department, but they never claimed to have record of me.  I guess I really make an impression - huh?

Actually Timothy they do keep records.  Their record shows that you and your wife are just bitter and backslidden and they are giving you all the opportunity to come back into the fold.  Simply go "kiss the ring" and preacher will deem all is well.

You and me both bud. I have never received an invitation to an alumni banquet or gotten an alumni paper even though I graduated with honors, have my picture in the yearbook, and paid my tuition. Maybe it is because I wrote to js and asked him for a tuition reimbursement since so many of the tests I took and answers I had to give got changed to different answers under his reign!

Oh, they know me personally, but never could seem to find my info to include it in a mailout, alumni magazine, or letter updating what is happening in the college/church.  I finally quit trying.  Besides, I withdrew my membership from the NADD some time ago.

You will have to enlighten me on what NADD means. My Greek was pretty shaky.

NADD:  Not-A-Denomination-Denomination

I am IFB because I really do believe what those words mean.

I am no longer a part of this group of IFB that claims to not be a denomination but really is.  The leadership is very political and there is much debate among the movers and shakers as to who taught what and why my view is better.  A huge "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" mentality prevails in who is asked to speak where and good sums of money is traded back and forth by these means.  Those who are not in the leadership aspire to kiss up enough and play the political system well enough to be a speaker one day and have their sermons printed in various publications, all of which attack each other for not being as right with God as themselves.  Churches in the NADD will search for a new pastor by petitioning the leadership (one of a number of Bible colleges, depending on which sub-group they belong to) and a pastor will be assigned (You should have him, he is the best person in America for your church - you should go there, it is God's will because I think so).  Non-attendance at a conference proclaims your lack of support and will result in people spreading all sorts of rumors why you aren't there and how you have become liberal and no one who is right with God should speak to you any more.  Showing up with a beard or without a tapered haircut just might get you kicked out of the building.

You know - the NADD.
