My daughter just bought a used car. The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is that the previous driver (teen) stuck a quarter into the seatbelt latch clasp. We called Honda to see if they could replace it and they said it would be $400 because they would have to replace the belt side of it as well.

We've tried tweezers, wire and paperclips to get it out but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Powerful magnet? Or magnetized tool?

Well, a quarter isn't magnitized, is it?

You have a good point ....

That said - perhaps something sticky ... allowing the quarter to stick ....

Look for an aftermarket product to replace it with or a trip to the junkyard.  Both should be cheaper.

As far as the stuck quarter, it may be just the right pressure and positioning in order to remove it.

Are you pushing the belt release button in while trying to remove the quarter?  It could be holding it in while you're trying to get it out.

Thanks all for your suggestions! However, I just found a way to get it done.

I let my wife figure it out and she somehow did it!  ;D

Take the belt loose and sling it hard. Momentum should cause the quarter to fly out. Just don't stand in front of it.... :)

Just what I would have done.

Mr. Coffee, I'm thinking your sharp wife has earned a night out on the town...dinner? movie? shopping?...after all, she saved a cool $400.  :)
