WPCS 89.5... The PCC station... I listened to it when I was stationed in Pensacola in the 80s. After we arrived here in Pensacola yesterday I tuned in to see what kind of music they were playing. Expecting something along the lines of Ray and Ann Gibbs, I was amazed to hear something with acoustic guitar, bass and drums in it. I wouldn't say they've taken the plunge into full on CCM but the music had a definitely more contemporary vibe than the sounds of WPCS from days gone by. In fact, I found it to be quite enjoyable; more palatable than the bubblegum CCM that is on so many stations. The lyrical work was close to the days of old but it was definitely better than the sometimes shallowness of much CCM. I heard a snippet of teaching and found it to be mostly solid; a little bit of thoughts I disagreed with but nothing major. Overall, I was quite impressed.

I was driving trucks and made a few runs down to Miami back around 2021 and listened some to WPCS when I was in the Pensacola area.

I also went there with the wife a couple years back (or perhaps last year, I'm forgetting now) and thought about checking out Bible Baptist Church (Pete Ruckman's old church) but decided not to get my wife exposed to such nonsense! I would've gone just because it is hard not to stop and look at a trainwreck!:ROFLMAO:

We were on NAS Pensacola today. Amazing the difference in mindset between then and now. Back then, I wanted to spend as little time on the base as possible. Now, it felt like trying to come home but the house has a different owner and has completely remodeled it. The big red signs about unauthorized personnel never applied to me so I didn't pay them any mind. Now they are out there reminding me this isn't my duty station anymore.

Mrs. abcaines and I will be going out tonight... I want to stop at the old Servicemen's Center... It's now an addiction clinic. According to Google maps street view it looks the same. We'll see. Then supper, then Wednesday service at PCC.

A lot of reminiscing happening today.
