he committed his indiscretion in 1982 while the Pastor, instead of 2012.

No facebook.

No FFF.

No pocket phones with cameras.

No selfies.

No federal law ref: taking under-aged persons across state lines for less than honorable purposes.

Yes and no. I do agree the modern technology and social media makes things more known to alot more people instantly, however, when did Jack Hyles begin his indiscretions and how many people knew about it? The same could be said about Dave Hyles.

Exactly, it took the eye witness testimony of an unimpeachable person, the Chief of the Griffith Police Dept, who was also an FBCH deacon at the time.

He stood up in deacon's meeting and told the whole sordid story of DH and the naked girl that were in the back seat of DH's car in Griffith about midnight.

He asked JH what he was going to do about it. DH was history there was nothing that could be said.

Before that a Schererville Officer found much the same one night in Schererville, but when the Chief finds you, you're done.

The Griffith Police Chief could have arrested them both. They got a pass.

As for JH, he did not do selfies.

As he always said there were "no witnesses".

It's safer in the office than in your car.

Don't cross state lines.

Let's turn this worthy question around a bit,...

Would Jack Hyles survived the scandal from the late 80's early 90's if the Internet and social media were as prevelant and accessible then as they are today?

I do not believe he would have made it past the DH affair.

As it was he just barely survived all the revelations that just kept coming.

Exellent point...I don't Jack Hyles would have survived if social media were around back then. He would have huffed and puffed and "categorically denied" everything, but the tide of popular opinion would have shifted against him when rumors go viral. Throw in photos and you're toast.

The Lord doesnt need social media to correct a problem! :)

Great question, no matter which side of the JH issue you stand on.
