Would Jesus Miss Choir Practice?

Eeeegad.  It isn't enough to treat the choir like adults and say something like, "We recognize that circimstances may keep you away from rehearsals from time to time. However, choir by its nature is an activity that requires regular attendance. Please demonstrate your commitment to this ministry and respect for other choir members, by doing your best to attend rehearsals regularly and on time"?

If someone tried to pull this kind of sanctified guilt trip on me, I would send a brief note back: "Dear choir director: Thank you for putting Jesus' sacrifice into perspective for us. In place of rehearsals, from now on I will be attending the prayer meeting so that I can properly thank him."

I love the first comment on that page:

"Wait, I thought if I loved God all I had to do was forward FaceBook posts. I have to go to choir practice too?!"

LOL

Maybe they should have tri-outs instead. Choose the best to be on the Choir team.

Then no worries

Three of my children are part of the choir and orchestra at church. We try to be faithful to all practices, but if something comes up I do not make them feel guilty about missing! My youngest is involved with Awanas and rides the bus home to help, most times he has a sports event at school that conflicts with it though. One of many things I learned after leaving HAC/FBC that God is not going to hate me if I am not always at church when the doors open!
