I think they are following under pressures of the political and the gay movement. Also they will open their doors to Women's ordained Pastors. This is just the beginning for them, let's start by changing their name, Southern Baptist?

Hmm, I don't know. I would welcome those kinds of changes, but I'm skeptical the SBC can change enough to suit me, at least in the short term. I'm really not a Baptist anyway, more a mixture of Anglican and Lutheran.

Heh. I may be a liberal (probably am in your definition), but I'm not one who takes differences of opinion as being hatred.  :-*

I 'spose if somebody whacked me with one of those, I'd sorta kinda get the impression that maybe they didn't like me.  :'(

Do you even know what you're talking about?  They can't even change their name without a fight, the best they could
do was assign themselves the nickname "Great Commission Baptists".

They already split over ordaining women as pastors back in the late 80s.

The SBC can't even deal with Democrats in their midst, much less gays.

Go back in the laundry hamper on the old FFF with the rest of the smelly socks.

Why do good old cheeses stink, but taste so good?

As a Southern Baptist I can say without fear of being wrong...you don't know what you are talking about...no real surprise there!

I not saying that the SBC are bad, what I am saying is," that they are getting weaker."  :-[

And I am saying that every group has their liberals and legalist...both weakening the cause...but as a whole the SBC has in the past withstood these and I believe will so in the future.  There is no mass movement in the SBC to ordain women or condon homosexuality.  Most of that group moved on to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.  Now you have the facts...hope you will treat them with integrity.

The Independent Baptist are not perfect, but the liberals we have don't hang around to long. They feel the pressure and more conviction in the preaching of the Word.  And we don

Can you name one SBC that preaches a works salvation (legalism)?

Hey Ozzy...I believe you are talking to me, so I will answer...yes I can name quite a few of them...but you would not know their names as they are for the most part in small churches and they went to small unaccredited schools...I would add that while legalism does impact the doctrine of salvation...I personally don't believe that it is the only realm it exists.  Legalism also affects the teaching of "staying right" with God after salvation.

No.  But I can recall an SBC church where one sermon was that you are a bad Christian witness unless you kept your lawn mowed and landscaping tidy.
