Starting at the 49:00 mark, is a presentation that Pastor's School has done at least twice on the King James Bible -  "Where is the Stone..."

Sorry but that stuff was not the norm or the nutty-over-emphasis of HAC when I graduated in 81.  My last PS was around 1987.

Don't get me wrong now. I was not KJV only before I got there & have not been since. But as a kid growing up in another church & state the KJV was what my church used, it was what I used to memorize hundreds of verses, to read the Bible through many times & what I used in study and sermon prep for my time in the ministry. It was & is my preference, I did not & do not care to change. I still prefer the KJV & still read the Bible through each year using it. I do not prefer some of the translations out there but sometimes I reference a different translation in my personal study. It does not bother me if someone uses some other translation.

That video with it's hookey 2nd rate music (maybe the bad audio made it worse) was not what I heard when I was there. I remember Jackie-boy back then doing everything but naming Ruckman but soundly slamming him for his multiple marriages & over emphasis on KJV only. I heard C Hutson making fun of KJV only guys & using other versions to explain some KJV words.

I have for years wondered why preachers that I went to HAC with turned into KJV only guys in droves. After seeing that video (I couldn't take very much of it without turning it off)  it dawned on me what may have brought all that KJV only thinking & over emphasis.

I am of the opinion that JH all of a sudden jumped on the KJV only bandwagon to take the thinking about him, after the accusation about him, in another direction. I think he decided to become the drum major of the KJV only movement & thus make himself look more righteous to convince his followers that any attack on him was an attack on the KJV only. Sadly........in the minds of many it worked & they loyally followed.

Again.......that's just my own opinion but I'm not mad at anyone who is KJV only.  But I wonder if the KJV only thinkers will now be mad at me........ ::)

This one's not.

In the words of Harry Callahan, "A man's got to know his limitations".

I have thought the same exact thing, Well said.

I hate to bring it up again but, "The Music Man" applies so much. In the beginning, one of the main characters gets the town against the pool hall. He realizes they are putty in his hands. They begin to agree with anything he says because of his charisma.

I looked at one of the other videos where Schaap preaches. He was 38. Hyles introduces him and says that Schaap has studied Bro. Hyles' preaching style better than anyone.

Schaap talks about the heroes in his life and old men who fail.  The cadence and preaching style of Schaap mirrors Jack Hyles.

They were able to draw crowds for all the wrong reasons.  Young men and old men fall.  I'm glad I have examples in my family, such as my grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. .....  They've been through fire and may not be charismatic speakers but they have showed me how to live.

I was in the Music Man musical in high school & always remembered the "Trouble" song.

Actually, JH himself said something along these lines - that he was going to focus on this issue as a distraction regarding the DH issues.

The statement can be taken in two ways -- personally, in that JH was distracting himself from the DH issues -- but it could be a taken as a policy statement that JH wanted to have people talking about something else other than DH, so he focused on this issue.

I didn't see this become that big of an issue until after JH's death. It looked to me at the time (and I still think so) that some people may have been jealous of JS, and were just waiting to find something to attack him about.  Tom Neal and Bob Gray, Sr tended to ignore his blasphemous teaching re the Lord's Supper, but zeroed in, first on JS's teaching about giving, and then they really went to town when JS tried to take a reasonable stand about the KJV.  The nuttiness seemed to go into overdrive then.

This doesn't mean that he was wrong on the KJV issue....even (if true) if his motivation wasn't right.
