A Baptist minister has admitted to a sexual relationship with a teenage girl from his congregation, according to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.

Brian Gray, 51, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three felonies.

He is the pastor of Anchor Baptist Church on Front Street in Wheatland. Officials said he is married with three children.

Another KJV-only, indy-fundy child molester. Knock me over with a feather.

No, he did not mean THAT Brian Gray from 2010.  But, I'm sure you knew that...

Of course he did.  Makes me wonder what the ratio is, though...."Protestant" .vs "IFB" sex  and abuse crimes.  Based upon numbers of members and numbers of reported incidents.

Seems to me that there's been more flamin' KJVonly, separated, independent, fundamental, sin hatin', homosexual bashin', gun totin' baptists that have been reported since 2010 than Church of Christ members.

I have members in my church who's children go to non IFB churches.
They tell me accounts about what happens in their kids churches.
One situation occurred not long ago in a non-denom megachurch within the last two years, where pornography was found on the pastor's computer.
The pastor stepped down for a couple of months.
During that brief time, the church started an AA type of program for addicts of all kinds.
The pastor enrolled in that program, and after a few months, they let him back in the pulpit.
You would never have heard this account unless I told you, it would never make the papers.
This kind of stuff happens more than you know in a multiplicity of churches.

I just don't get it.

IMO, anyone who credits his righteousness to himself, whether secretly or openly, leaves himself open to God teaching him a lesson in humility by allowing him to find out just what righteousness of his own he really has.

Ransom channeling Bass?  ;)

As I mentioned earlier on the forum, our church just dealt with a former Pastor who had repeatedly raped a mentally challenged woman in his former church. He was not a Baptist...IFB or any other stripe.

There are more Baptist churches than any other stripe, except maybe Roman Catholic in this country...so the law of averages says church predators will be where the churches are....

Having said that, I do believe the Baptists have badly mishandled and often covered up the tragic episodes in their churches...for the most part.

I really didn't enjoy the game of 'gotcha' on the other forum...but if you looked, you could probably come up with a church predator of various stripes and denominations ...every week!

pornography ≠ statutory rape

The thread I started a couple of weeks ago about "Another IFB bears his fangs", which I got dinged for inaccurate reporting, was not an IFB.  Unfortunately for the victims, I see this sort of thing semi-regularly on the local news, often times not Baptist.

The thing I think is noteworthy is that IFB(xers) often pride themselves on high standards and being like "the West Pointe of fundamentalism", implying that they are more right and righteous than those from other walks of Christian life.  The reality portrayed by the regular reporting of such incidents of immorality amongst the ranks is that they are really no better than the average evangelical.

The polity of the average IFB church (what is practiced, not what is in some phony constitution) makes it very easy for a managawd to fall into sexual sin and other issues as well.

That might be true...but the accountability structure in the Catholic Church doesn't seem to be the answer either.

Their precious standards have not brought them "holiness".

Their separation has not cleansed them.

Their system of works has been proven to be a failure.

From the story, "The pastor admitted he’d been out of bounds, but did not discuss specifics, Durfor said."

Of course not.  Do they ever? Also remember there is always "more to the story" that the sheeple do not know about.
