Its twin, the Plymouth Horizon, was my second car.

1980 Chevy Citation
1987 Dodge Charger. $6987 out the door. Zero options - not even a radio. Drove it from coast-to-coast, into Canada, and down to Florida. The Nevada desert in July with no AC was a fun time.

My 1974 Ford Mustang II was bought for only $400.
I totaled it by wrecking into a creek and turning over onto its top. Had to be cut out with the Jaws of Life. After being knocked out and laying on the creek bed with water running through the roof I realized that I was near death again because the guy who was coming down the creek Bank had a cigarette lit and gas was running all over me.
My first words when I came to consciousness, laying in that creek bed, was "thank you God I'm still alive", but I was not a Christian yet and wouldn't be for another 3 years. The grace of God is wonderful!

No, never served - wish I had though.
Drove out to L.A. (with many stops on the way & back) for a wedding. Drove up to Canada to a college friend's home a few times, Florida for spring break my last year in college.
Mostly retraced those steps in 2018 with the wife & kids - L.A. for my youngest brother's wedding with a few more stops than I made the 1st time, Florida for volleyball, and not quite to Canada for volleyball. I think we put almost 38,000 miles on the wife's car that year. Up to 83,000 now and it's only 2.5 years old.
I'd rather drive than fly anywhere - so much to see in between.
Those Mustang IIs get a lot of hate, but I always liked them. Might be because one of Charlie's Angels drove one.
So true. I was 18, didn't know a thing about buying a car and the salesman saw me coming from a mile away. Sold me a big 'ol lemon. LOL!!

I had one of these given to me around 1989. It was red and a nice car. I was at work when someone came in and asked who owned the red car. "I do. Why?" "It's on fire"
Caught fire sitting in the parking lot.
Travel volleyball - my final year. She could play in college, but doesn't want to go to college - which is fine with me. The ROI on a college education ain't what it used to be.
