VBS is always a ton of work, but very rewarding.  What theme did you use this year?  If you already had yours then give us a report, funny stories, etc.

We did Gospel Lights Rain Forest Adventure theme.....had Dan the Animal Man on the last night.
Had a great VBS....averaged over 600 with many professing faith in Christ.
PTL!

Duct tape.

It's not an interesting subject, but the kids are really quiet.

We did "Up and Away," an aviation themed VBS this year. Also as part of this year's VBS, the kids held some events to raise money for a local school (it's one of our missions projects), to help build them a new playground. Goal was $20,000; they raised over $30,000!! The school hasn't had a playground in about 10 years; they should have a pretty good playground soon.

Hmm. I don't think we have a VBS!  :o

Is this common in the Anglican denom?  If not, maybe you could start the tradition in your assembly.  It's a great outreach and ministry tool.

"SKY"

I thoroughly enjoyed that, thanks for sharing.  One of the little girls in the intro looked like a twin sister to one of my best junior church attendees.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the game in the video where the kids were circled around a little swimming pool?  It looked like gelatin or freeze-pops, or something like that, were being lobbed in the air.  How does that game work?

I don't really know, I'm new to it (formally that is... I've considered myself an Anglican of sorts ever since I began reading Lewis, oh so long ago).

And we could possibly get it from the Lutheran side, since we have that affiliation as well.

It may just be that my particular congregation, which is relatively new (10 years old) and relatively small (150 members), hasn't gotten around to it yet. I'll inquire about that. I agree that it sounds useful, but I've never personally experienced it.

The only reason to have VBS is to count them and brag about the numbers at the Preacheeeers Fellership!

RBP's Bug Zone.  We had ours early in the summer and it was very good.  This weekend we had a junior church activity at a state park and one lady brought her child (instead of dropping him off at church to ride the van) and stayed the entire day for the activity.  I enjoyed getting to know her and learned that she saw our VBS sign and brought her son every evening.  She stayed in class with him and loved the way the class was taught.  She has been coming to church ever since.

Hope your VBS is great!

Thanks for the good report.

We had 68 total in attendance last night, with some usual hiccups, but all in all things went really smoothly.

Who's throwing numbers around now?
And, you're wasting your time with children's ministry....you'll never build a church that way.....I know it's true.....I read it on the FFF!  :D

Hope you have a spiritually profitable week!

Thanks bro, on a shoestring budget and somewhat limited staff potential, we're trusting Him to produce the fruit!
