Winter time can be brutal (though not this year in most of the USA) for door-to-door, particularly for my elderly soulwinning partner,  so I'm looking for alternatives.  One consideration is going to the local hospital and going to the waiting rooms, and/or room to room in order to pray with folk, read encouraging Scripture, and potentially witness.  Anybody have any suggestions or experience doing this?  Is it crucial to get prior approval through the proper administrative hospital channels?  Other ins and outs to consider?

Bueller?  Bueller?

Does your local hospital have volunteer chaplains?  You may start by inquiring about that.  Also, ask church folks to contact you when anyone they know is in the hospital and stop by to pray with them.  That may open doors with the patient and with others in the room.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.  I don't know about the volunteer chaplain thing, but I'll check into it.  We went from room to room last Saturday and spoke with dozens of people.  Every person that we chatted with and asked if they would like to be prayed for accepted our offer of prayer, and every one of them said they were already Christians.  Everybody seems to be saved in Appalachia  ;D.

Senior living centers, you can volunteer to assist in the evening meal (wheeling people around - sometimes filling drinks ect - not real waiter work) and pretty much have free reign to talk to everyone that wants to eat. You will be surprised at the invitations you will get to come and talk. Very open door if done respectfully.

Thanks for the suggestion.  We already have a nursing home ministry, though I don't participate in it.  I'm specifically looking for thoughts about hospitals, as the population of them are large, and constantly changing, thereby providing ample opportunity for soulwinning engagements and potential for encouragement of the sick too.

I thought maybe your first thread would be about the Bengals actually FINALLY making it to the play-offs.  :D

This Super Bowl hoovers.  Of the four teams that played in the championships I wanted to see ZERO of them win.  My only consolation is Rapistburger and the Stealers will be watching from their recliners too. :D

Oh, getting back on track and away from the carnality that Bob brings to the discussion :D, was privileged to lead a soul to Christ going door-to-door today.  Now that's worth celebrating, amen.

Please note that you are on the fighting forum, not the "I gotta brag about how God could do nothing without me" forum.

Please note that this is America, and an unmoderated forum, so I think I'll post whatever I want within the rules of the Admin/Moderator, your supreme Poo-bahness notwithstanding.

There are numerous people on this forum that are in full-time vocational ministry, and plenty of others who have had lots of experience in such things in the past, so I'm still lookin' for some feedback on this.
