I have the 1984 NIV translation. I really like the NIV study Bible with that version.  I have not seen or read the ESV Study Bible, and Scofield is just plain wrong, and I have read both old and new.  And the Life Application Bible is good but pretty wishy washy on some doctrines.

I have a TNIV Study Bible, and I think the notes are the same. They're pretty good. :)

But the ESV Study Bible is mainly the one I rely on.

One more. The 1901ASV. I tend to like it myself..........

PS: Now I have most all of them {study bibles and translations} and I'll glance at em' every now and then................Just sayin

I have the Zondervan King James Study Bible, which has the same notes as the NIV Study Bible, but in a KJV text. It's pretty good.  I sold my Scofield on eBay because I disagreed with too much of what he teaches.
My Bible software includes the notes from the Life Application Bible, which is one I really like. I may buy a printed edition of that.

I have had the NIV Study Bible since 1995... I love it!
However, the ESV has brought current scholarship and eventhough I prefer the NIV, the ESV notes are superior.

I don't have one so I don't have many thoughts on it. :)

Get an ESV Study Bible. Great notes and a great translation.

Best all-round notes in print.  Very thorough, very helpful, and quite balanced.

For those who prefer more formal translations, the NIV study notes have also been adapted for the KJV (as someone has already said) and, I believe, the NASB as well.

What are the notes like in the ESV SB?  I mean, is there a certain bent?

Conservative Evangelical, which is what the NIV SB notes are as well. But the ESV SB is also a little bit Reformed/Calvinist, and the translation leans that way just a tad too. It's not a severe bias, easy enough to overlook or compensate for.

That doesn't bother me because I'm a little bit Calvinist myself (4pt., no L) when I'm not feeling more Lutheran (but always monergistic either way), and mainly I criticize the Reformed folk for prickles vs. goo imbalance, i.e., too much finicky logic-chopping, not enough mystery.
