My wife, on the other hand (and she may chime in here herself), said since they are hard up for cash they should have kept the money despite where it came from.

I would have kept the money but wouldn't give them "sponsorship" by telling everyone they supported the team.
 
Nothing like a thread about something that has nothing what-so-ever to do with what 99.9% of the people on a forum have ever encountered or will EVER encounter....but yet the poster wants to make it into some kind of super-spiritual situation in which only He would handle properly and wants to make sure everyone knows how special he is. (sigh)  ::)
