True or false?

God will not deny his grace to those who do what lies within their power.

"God will not deny his grace to those who do what lies within their power."

Discuss.

P.S. The poll function on SMF beats vBulletin's, hands down.

I think the statement is too vague to say whether it is true or false.

False.

What's to discuss?

Apparently, 1/3 of respondents so far feel differently.

It seems to me to be a medieval Catholic statement that roughly parallels today's "God helps those who help themselves."

As I believe salvation is completely of grace with no admixture of human effort, if used in a soteriological sense I would have to disagree.

If used in a "grace for daily living" sense it may, in some small part, be true, but even then I believe that all grace, including living grace, is unmerited.

This seems like some sort of fallacy. If God denies His grace, then it isn't grace regardless what what anyone does.

Okay, since some people think this is true I'll explain why I said no. I said it because we don't have any power. We're humans. God is God.

Our only power is through Him, so nothing within our own power is going to accomplish anything worthwhile.

Seems to you, or seems to Google and/or Wikipedia? ;)
