Looking forward to hosting Evangelist Tom Williams today at church.

We heard him 30 years ago .............

I heard him 42 years ago.

Actually we had a Junior class party at his house. I went to high school with his oldest son.

He preached about prayer all day and did a wonderful job.  Truly a memorable time at our church.  A lot of people came up to the front and prayed.  I appreciate his messages b/c we've started a new evangelistic program in our church called "Operation Supplication" which involves using the means of prayer to reach our area for Christ.

I was at HAC the first time he preached there.  Dr. Hyles had met him during his travels.  He gave his testimony and there was not a dry eye in the auditorium.  He preached right on past the normal time and no one cared.  Glad you had a good day with him.

Lat time I ran into him was in a Taco Bell on a Sunday night. He was preaching at a local church. We greeted each other & he handed me a large bill & said, "Let me treat your family tonight."

Glad to count him as a friend.

I still remember him preaching Amnon had a friend at the college, over 30 years ago.

I chuckle because I remember Larry Brown of Iowa preaching a message with same title.

I also remember Dr. Hyles preaching it.  I wonder who was the first?  :)  I think Larry Brown's was probably the most famous.

Well, duh!
Of course, Bro. Hyles did, and they started preaching it on bus routes,  and it caught on from there!

Are you picking people out, and praying for them, before you go witness to them?

I found this to be very effective.

More details, please.
Enough of the small talk, back to work with ya!

We are going door to door as we were in normal soulwinning, but instead of inviting them to church or even trying to witness up-front, we tell them that we have a prayer ministry in our church and will pray for any needs that they or anyone they know has.
If they have a request, we take down specifics, put these names, addresses and needs in a database, then put them on the Wednesday night prayer list and we pray over them name by name.
I send each person a personal note to tell them we are praying for them and denote this on the database.
We also plan to re-visit each person who requests prayer and this is when most of the one on one witnessing will take place, on the call.  Each re-visit is denoted in the data base.

My desire is to get as many people as possible in our church involved in this.
I named the ministry: Operation Supplication.
We have three specific areas that people can serve in:
(Fishinut gave me ideas in this area.)
1. Seekers: They who seek those who desire prayer.
2. Supporters: They who will follow up on those requesting prayer.  This is where most of the witnessing will take place, I have already seen one person saved on follow up.
3. Supplicators: They who will pray through the prayer list at least twice a week.
(Everyone, regardless of age/health or time allotment can participate in this ministry if they want to.)
Not getting a lot of responders yet, but it's still early.

There are some real benefits and blessings that I have seen thus far:
1. It gets our people learning how to pray for others.
2. The more we pray, the more we will see God move in our midst and the closer we will grow in our walk with God.
3. I am pleasantly surprised at the reception we are receiving in the community.
Most people I meet are genuinely moved when they realize that we are not there to ask for anything, or even invite them to church.
But they are moved that someone actually cares enough about their needs to take time out and pray for them.
Even more astounding, I tell each person who submits a prayer request that someone is going to come back and follow up on that request and I have not had one refusal yet.
I am overwhelmed at the amount of needs I am presented with each time I go out.
The great thing is, each person still gets a Gospel tract, and only one person has refused a tract.

Two interesting things have happened in the last few weeks while out on Operation Supplication.
One Christian man I met has offered our church the use of 80 acres of land (including two stocked ponds and a creek) any time we want.  We're having an activity there in June.
Also, another man was so moved by what we are doing he asked us what we needed in our church.
I told him we needed carpet for the upstairs of our prophets chamber.
He gave me $1000 towards it, the carpet is going in tomorrow.  He's an unsaved Catholic.
Our church attendance has been growing since we started this, can't explain it, but it's true.
We still need depth in our church, but God is doing something.

Nothin like a little NT Christianity, to let your light so shine as a church.

You stinkin' (I love that word) liberal!!  Next you will be listening to Joel Osteen!!!
