My freshman and sophomore years I lived at Baptist City.  The freedom was nice, but being off campus was inconvenient.  I did not have a car which means I had to get a ride to and from campus.  I did ride the bus to campus many a time, but it was only available at set times.

Of course, you could ride with someone who had a car.  If you had a friend going at the correct time you could ride with them.  The only other option was to stand and thumb a ride.  I absolutely hated doing this, but I did it many a time.

I concur, Sir

Once I had a car I didn't mind giving someone a ride to BC.  Because it was so far I hated giving rides to and from church to certain people.  There were good guys and there were Hackers.  I know it sounds mean, but we would motor past the Hackers.

Another good one was when someone would be standing at the exit of the parking garage thumbing a ride back to campus.  You would roll down the window and say, "We are stopping at Burger King and eating".  They would go ahead and get in.  When you got to Burger King they would say, "I'll just stay in the car.  I don't have any cash".

Reminds me of a 70's song. Maybe it was 60's. Hitchin a ride
