Artist Thomas Kinkade had been battling alcoholism for years and apparently suffered a relapse just prior to his unexpected death last week.

Kinkade

Where did I say, or even imply, that he "deserved to die"?

Isn't there enough BS in the world without ignorant people inventing more of it?

I read that in the paper last night. It seems he may have died of alcohol poisoning. His fame and the way he was disdained by art critics put him under a lot of pressure, and he didn't handle it well. Very sad.  :'(

I would assume his massive financial troubles played a major part in his problems....the critics never praised him....but for a long while he laughed all the way to the bank.
He's been under major financial pressure lately, and I'm sure the poor economy only added to the trouble.

Speaking of........

Drunk, separated, and shacked up. Heck, bad art and the derision of critics was the least of Kinkade's worries.

Yeah, he had a lot of problems. But God still loved him. I feel sorry for him, and hope to meet him in heaven. And IMO (and in the opinion of millions), his art was good, just not in sync with the taste of the critics.

Yeah, I'd say that the eternal consequences of drunkenness and adultery are a far greater worry than hurt feelings due to art critics. Wouldn't you?

Yes, I would. For that reason, I worry about him. But still hope he loved God and trusted in Jesus while feeling overwhelmed and screwing up. I am not certain I'll meet him in heaven, but hope I will. (I am not a Baptist, and not certain of OSAS.)

I'd say so...the art critics were never his problem.....as I said, he laughed all the way to the bank.
His poor business acumen and business ethics (perhaps) were the cause of his problems...along with the downturn in the economy.

I'm not arguing the man was a saint...or a believer...I have no idea.
My point is that the so called experts/critics are hardly the measure of talent or mainstream success.
They are usually biased in a progressive, politically correct way......

I hope this story can be used as a wake-up call those who are enslaved to alcohol. It's bad enough when it happens unbelievers - horrible when it happens to believers - but nobody's perfect - we either walk in the flesh or in the Spirit and they always war against each other - Gal. 5. These people need to admit they have a problem and get help and especially some accountability so they don't relapse.
