so..... no spear fishing offshore in waikiki.... at least for the next few days....
..the red warning signs on the live video confirms some of them have been seen washing ashore.....
.

(or misfortune).... to play the longhorns tomorrow.... . so i;ll be glued to the tv for the duration.....

all the different variety really do... (and i posted that pic coz it;s one of my favorites... though it;s not the kind we deal with once a month in waikiki... i have a picture of that down below)....
we had a jellyfish aquarium many years ago before we moved to places where a big set up was unfeasable.... we mostly had only the round moon jellyfish free swimming... and then whats know as the upside down cake jellyfish lying on the bottom... they were all under black lights which made them stand out..... . ..we collected both types from the harbor in waikiki and the ruined pond at the hilton before they remodelled it..... it gave us an endless supply to replenish them which was good - because we never could figure out how to feed them and keep them alive without destroying water quality at the same time....
the ones that come into waikiki once a month a week after the full moon - and hang around stinging people for a few days - are the hawaiian box jelly fish variety.... closely related to the deadly australian box jelly known as the sea wasp.... but these are not that deadly or that dangerous... and nowhere near as big... .... they do however leave a nasty and painful sting and sometimes even scars.... ... in the water they look like a clear plastic sandwich bag....about the same size as one too - floating and drifting just under the surface of the water with 4 trailing tails behind them that look like silvery threads or strings..... ....just seeing one gets me out of the water even faster than seeing a shark... ..(depending how big and what kind it shark is).... ..
