For those who don't go to the other forum, I posted this there:
I watched most of it. He at least presented himself as sane.
I disagree with some of the immigration ideas (obviously) but I do like his approach to revisiting Obamacare and switching people over to something better without them losing health insurance. I love the idea of creating national competition with better plan selections from which to choose.
One thing I did approve of was his having Megan Crowley there. It brought awareness to Pompe Disease. For those who go in the way back machine on the forum, my father-in-law, Durango Kid, has the disease and it is very difficult in watching him deteriorate in the manner he is. His sister died from the disease in her early 40s.
That being said, I am glad Pompe got put in the spotlight and I hope and pray more funding can be established to help find a cure, or at least cause regression. The enzyme treatments my fil has to go through every other week can only slow progression, but can't restrict the disease.
FYI, if one wants to know a little more about Pompe and Megan Crowley, watch the Harrison Ford/Brendan Fraser movie called
Extraordinary Measures (2010). It gives the story of Megan's dad once Megan and her brother were diagnosed and his pursuit for some kind of treatment. She was not supposed to live past age 10 but is now 20 and a college student.
Anyway, I'm glad Pompe had a moment in the spotlight again.
