When we were at HAC we were required to read several of Dr. Hyles' books.  Some we read more than once.  So what book of Dr. Hyles did you most enjoy?  Perhaps you have more than one.  List all of them.  Of course, one book per post!

I enjoyed most of Meet the Holy Spirit.  I think it was more of a blessing to me because I was there when he taught it on Wednesday evenings.

This is a little hard to answer b/c my perspective on many things has shifted some in the past 25 years. The book of his I enjoyed the most when I read it was "Teaching on Preaching." It helped me very much as I formed my approach to preaching as a teenager and a college student.

...I confess I am a bit afraid to re-read it today. My approach to preaching now is so different than it was back then.

FYI, JH stole the title from a book wrote many years before.

You'll get much more from The other book.

It's in the HAC library.

I would also agree with this.

And I bet you still use it today!

How to Boost Your Church Attendance, copyright January 1, 1961

A new or used hard copy still cost almost $40.00 on Amazom.
Used copies sell on e-bay all the time for $30.00 or more.

Hard to believe there is still such a demand for a 50 year old book.

Wow!  That is far above the cover price.

Funny thing here, but I was not impressed by any of his books. His sermons were fantastic. I had read a lot of books by John R. Rice, and they were far superior to Jack's books.

I like his poetry books. Yes, some references in them make one cringe now, but how about that Thanksgiving Day tribute he wrote!

Every year on my anniversary as pastor I read his poem "Just Let Me Be Your Servant" to my people. It has become very sentimental/emotional to me.

I hope you take credit for being the author.  :)

Here I thought your favorite would be "I Am an Idea", but then I assume you've not been able to read through it completely yet.  ;)

BCH, don't get caught up in Patriotic's hatemongering.

I did enjoy Blue Denim and Lace.  It was simple reading, but made one think.
