The HONESTY of the modern versions

The KJVO tells us that verses are missing from our modern versions.
Problem: Why would the KJVO claim something that is so OBVIOUSLY wrong?

All of the contested passages and verses are included in the modern versions. Some versions place brackets around the sections, while others place them in the footnotes.

What the modern versions do is inform the reader that certain passages have zero mss support.

So, the verses/passages are still there... the modern versions tell the reader WHY there are brackets.

Unfortunately, the KJVO is more dishonest than the modern versions!

Acts 8:

It is not in the text.  Only a placeholder with a note.  It is in the footnotes, but not within the text at biblegateway.  It is summer, so we have had no fire lately, so I have one in my office to reference.  Yep, not in the text there either.

Funny how God inspires and preserves His word, but waited some 400 years for Freebie to come along and correct it for Him.  Good thing God has you to keep Him in line or who knows what all would be said about Jesus Christ in the text of the Bible?  People might even get the idea He was the Son of God or something.

IMHO The NET Bible is one of the  most honest translations available today.

It is very helpful for one that is trying to understand Bible translation issues.

It is like having a textual commentary and a lexicon on every page.

There are four kinds of notes.

tn  Translator note explains the original language text. Better than a lexicon.

tc  Text-Critical note explains the choice made for the original language text.

sn  Study note that clarifies things like obscure names or places.

map  Map note explains which map has the location spoken of in the text.

This Bible has over 60,000 of these notes.

If I could have only one copy of the Bible it would be this one.

I have been giving these away to my friends for a few years now. I get rave reviews esspecially from people who have only used a KJV. They can not believe how easy it is to understand the Bible.

No. The Bible is the same. Languages evolve.

I agree!

When studying Greek, I was given a TR my first two years. When I entered my third year of Greek, I used a Nestle/Aland 25.

Before I really got into the textual issues, I remember saying to myself, "Why didn't the Trinitarian Bible Society give me the information that the NA25 gives? Why were they hiding all of these textual issues?"

I would plead with you to study some history. Especially the history of the Bible.
Did you know that the Bible did not just appear to men in 1611?
It was first God breathed to the writers. Then it was copied many times.
Not all Christians had complete Bibles as we have today.
LXX was the Bible of early Christians.

Please learn some history not KJVO talking points.

Do you realize that KJVO talking points stick out like a strobe light on this forum.

If you only learn one thing, learn this, "The Translators to the Reader", this is the Preface that is
present in all authentic copies of the KJV 1611 1st edition.

Here is a link to a copy of an authentic, unmutilated KJV1611 1st edition Bible in high res photos.
In other words it has everything in it that the translators intended for us to have. It is not a striped down version that is so common today.

IMHO you do not believe what Miles Smith wrote in this preface, for if you did you would have a much
better understanding of Bible translation issues.

Repent of your KJVO dogma and learn some history.
