I'm sure each of us received some demerits at HAC for violating some rule that we considered "dumb".  Tell us your story!

*As always, one story per post!

During Spirit Week one particular day was designated as old-fashioned day, or something similar. I went as Huck Finn, straw hat, bib overalls, etc. In keeping with that I wore no shoes or socks. Lo, and behold, two weeks later I found out I had gotten demerits for not wearing shoes. My intent was certainly not to break the rules; I thought they had been suspended for the day by virtue of being asked to dress differently. Not only do I think that was petty, but I certainly would have gone and put them on if a staff member had asked me to do so.

...and I'm thinking this thread could be both cathartic and really, really loooooooooooooooooooong.  :D

Your last sentence has blessed me already!  :)

I got demerits one time for being out of my dorm after curfew.

I lived off campus with my parents.

So then you were out of your dorm.

Plus the loss of income for the college should have gotten you more demerits.

Once or twice a Semester, when the Lake County Juvenile Center was on lockdown, or for some other reason unable to host our service, I would end up at FBC for the SS hour.

Since I grew up there, attended HB, and was single, I would attend the class that was for my group.

Every time I did, I would receive a pile of demerits (guilty until proven innocent at HAC) and often an attached letter chewing me out for my severe transgression.

I have said this before but, my first year at hac when pastor's school came around in March we heard sermon after sermon about volunteering and how nobody wanted to volunteer to save America. I had been to  my first pastor's school the year before and tried to volunteer for all I could. Now, my job was at Thrall Car Manufacturing and we normally would get done by about 12:00 am to 1:00 AM. I thought about it and decided to volunteer for about 4 things. I could not understand why all my friends in the same ministry did not volunteer for anything!

Lo and Behold, my work schedule kept me going until 3 am and later. I made it the first day but after that I had to miss a lot of stuff. I can't even tell you how many demerits I got because I tried and was honest on my activity report. When I went to complain to Hooker he said there was nothing he could do. I told him to put me down for 50 demerits next year because I was going to do the same thing. I said I would try but could never promise while all my buddies just racked out in the Adam's chapel. My first of many idealistic notions about hackadoodle.

I got a boat load of demerits for attending a close friend's ordination service on a Sunday night because..................it was at a "Bible church" & not a Baptist church.

I fought it & told Mr. S that I'd see him in JH's office about it. He didn't want that so he expunged them.

For not signing my med request form.  Nurse Ratched said, "Wearing a straitjacket is no excuse".

Yes, they were.

The problem was, that I asked them why they couldn't get this straitened out.
They never did.
I got demerits every semester.

I once received demerits for being in a bus kid's home with a female student.  The night bus left us in Chicago while we were knocking on doors to let teens know the bus was coming.  It was the middle of winter and I did not think it was safe for her to be alone.  After begging for common sense, Sprunger finally cancelled the demerits.

Sad you had to beg.

Sadder that most attempts failed.

I agree.  It was one of my most frustrating moments at HAC.  It took the gal going in and expressing the danger she may have faced while being alone.
