John Mark actually does the turkey and the stuffing. I make everything else!! Going to try a few new recipes. I actually am flying out the day after Thanksgiving to MO for a wedding. Going to catch up with my old roomate from HAC that I havent seen since graduation!! Leaving my kids behind to fend for themselves. No Black Friday shopping for me, I will be in the air!!

We travel about 150 yards to eat with my family at mom's place in the early afternoon, then slog back across the field to our place and host my wife's family for the evening feed frenzy.

We are heading out in a few hours for Detroit.
My Mother, Sister, Dad's Sisters and my cousins on Dad's side all live from Ypsilanti to Auburn hills.

Traditional homecooked meal.

Interesting fact: one of my Mom's ancestors, one Edward Doty, was there the first Thanksgiving.
My Dad is Native American.
So we hold a reunion dinner every year.

;)

Good thing gas prices came down.

My husband will leave for work Thanksgiving morning and will return home after work on Friday.  Only one son left at home, another son and wife will arrive from 300 miles away.  Daughter and family lived with us for 8 months while house-hunting and then waiting for a huge remodel and are now in their house. Son-in-law deployed 5 days later, but daughter still wants the first Thanksgiving at their place. Two other sons not coming home because of work and college.

Seemed easier when it was at my house.

I had to say "Other" because while we did not visiting family, nor did flesh-and-blood family visiting us, but we had a church family over for dinner and fellowship.

With our kids and their kids, we had a houseful.

My wife, talented cook that she is, did most of the work.

We worked up an appetite outside by tossing around a football.

This is our first Thanksgiving in our home after losing everything . My husband wanted to go out but then decided he would order from Cracker Barrel and have the  Thanksgiving Dinner to Go .....I was cautious but I have to say it was delicious. We had our friends over Sheila who has worked for us for years. And Eileen who took us in when we had no place to go. This was a special time because we saw God's hand in our lives this past year with me getting a job. My husband suffered 3 strokes and lost his vision. He has struggled but God has been faithful. I have great respect for people who live with disabilities. I have some prayer requests for the new year I need full time work. And we need a new used car. I know God is able...many of you have helped me along my journey prophet, kaba and the prayers of so many. Only in America can you lose everything and rebuild. My rock is Psalms 121...
