Thailand Team Missionary Arrested

So is this guy on one of FBC's missions teams or is this a guy who took a missions trip to Thailand?

How very interesting that Pastor Wilkerson had to take a trip to Thailand last week ... Ostensibly to help them make a decision on a property to purchase...

Don't know what the "sentencing guidelines" are... but in my book, I wish this was a capital offense!  This REALLY repulses and ticks me off more than probably any other sin...

Everybody is a sinner, I know.... but good night your daughter?  Go get a Hooker or something....

Here's my question,...

If these team members are chosen through the leading of the Holy Spirit where is the spirit of discernment in the decision making process?

With any luck it will go to Federal like Jacks did, so he will sit behind bars min 10 years (12 is min but with "good time he can be out in 10)

I think this is a little unfair... I think most of the team members are great sacrificial Christians.  However, I do understand that 1 pervert can ruin the reputation of the program...

Also, I think when FBC paid all of the expenses, they probably could be a little more picky.... whereas now, they raise their own money, I think so it is probably limited the amount of people they can choose from

If FBC were a True Church the Holy Spirit would be involved.  I do not see how FBC is a True Church.

I remember this individual at hac. To me, he always seemed to be an odd duck. Never seemed truly happy. Sad news, to be sure. And I agree with Exell's opening statement.

A 5 year old, let alone his own daughter.  This is just sick.  It just disgusts me to no end that a father would do this to his own child.  And his wife, where is the woman while this is going on.  Is she totally blind to what's going on?  I have no patience for this - the fact that it sounds from what I read it happened in Indiana, Thailand and in Alabama?  Am I right by the article.  I hope he doesn't get out for a very long time and in prison - they don't like child molestors.  He'll get his due.

He may have had an ulterior motive for choosing Thailand.  It is a country as sick as he is.
I'm so sick of being associated with perverts, by name, church, whatever.
From Combs, to Gray, to Schaap, to Wininger, to whoever.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Ain't that the truth.  I now go to a church where few are familiar with HAC and only reference that I went to Bible college, never volunteering where, unless asked.  I never would have thought I would be so ashamed of my heritage.

I am working a mop here, trying to clean up a mess that Hammond made.  It is so sad.
God gave me a personality that doesn't get discouraged.
So it is rare that I throw up my hands, and it doesnt last more than a few hours.

I just wonder if our generation will be able to put something sustainable together, before our kids give up on "Baptist" for good.

We have the right book.  He is all we need.  Why are we so addicted to hearing from men?  I think my brain is bleeding out through my ears.

I am the last person on earth fit to be an example.  I cant even teach my history of good decisions.  I can only point to the Holy Writ and yell "Why!?!"

I am sick of telling people I attend a IFB church & they start naming IFB scandals.

Why can't we get back to being old fashioned CHRISTIANS. I'm sick of being lumped in with sick & immoral leaders.

In Paul Chappells book he talks about this very thing:

So what do we do when a name becomes tarnished?

I believe it’s time for revival in our midst. It’s time for a name cleansing. It’s time for some to move from:

•Bully pulpits with straw man issues back to authentic Bible preaching and teaching
•The wrath of man to speaking the truth in love
•Mishandling sin to handling sin with integrity and biblical principle
•Paranoid isolation (for pastors/church members) to loving engagement with family, neighbors, and the community
•Petty preferences to personal holiness
•Excuse-making to church building
•Critical spirits to edification and encouragement

HOW CAN WE CLEAN HOUSE  OR SHOULD WE JUST CHANGE OUR NAMES.

I would rather just be know as an Old Fashioned Christian.

Known for what I believe not what school I went to or what camp I run with.

I understand your shame in your association with the scandal plagued IFB movement. I myself am a high school graduate. I was mortified to find out that most murders and sex crimes in the US were committed by those who went to and graduated from...High School!

I was also shamed to the point I did not want to go out of my house after finding out that most convicted drunk drivers in our country at one time had a drivers license...Just like I do!  :-[

Another shocking and horrific find was that the majority of those who have committed financial fraud were...College graduates...just like me!!!!  :'(

I am at the point of disgust with my heritage and association with having a drivers license and holding a high school and college degree. I feel so dirty and guilty.

What should I do when someone looks me in the eye and reminds me of those drunk drivers every time I reveal that I have a license to drive.

Maybe this forum will help me with my guilt and my overwhelming negative feelings towards those associated with me that have done these wrongs.

Thailand is Godless, but I would not say it is a "sick country". There are lots of decent, moral Thais there that just do not know the Bible and this is because they were never taught it. America has just as many perverts and criminals as Thailand has. The names you mention ain't Thais and you and I both know the sick history behind those names. It is a "sick world" would be a better descriptor.
