Telling the truth.

I really like the analogy about the confederate flag issue and those who say churches should stay away from taking a political stance.

Can we coin another term except "missional"

As an old head that has been around (like yourself)I know what you are against as I'm sure most of the folks in your community are well aware of the stand you take,  but personally I want to hear clear, positive, uplifting messages, that encourages unbelievers to take a look at grace and the message of grace instead of being screamed at (not that you do)about how the world is going to hell in a hand basket and the sky is falling, gloom and doom....I get that it is (going to hell in a hand basket)but the world doesn't believe the Bible yet, so let them come with their questions, concerns, and doubts about Christianity but we had better give them more positives about out faith than screaming.

Wow...that was a long sentence.

I get your point, partially.
Missional is a term coined and used to death by self proclaimed missionals.
The article is not written by a fundy, but hones in on the doctrinal compromise of some he would call his peers. If we don't speak the truth, how will the world ever know the truth...and be set free?

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."

Sounds like the answer is "both" and not the either/or being presented.

Of course! (DUH!)  :)

And the OP was addressing some who do the former without the latter!

And you were lauding the latter while minimizing the former. ;)

No. I wasn't minimizing anything.
Just confirming my agreement with the OP's point!

Give it a read sometime.... ;)

The "good news" of the gospel doesn't make much sense without the "bad news"  of damnation. Not that it need be hell-fire and pulpit pounding but the bad news must be preached as well.

That was really good, and I also appreciated the confederate flag/racism parallel.

It was dead on...I get weary of those, usually using liberal idiocy as their basis, who denounce political activism by Christians and Pastors.
Denouncing Planned Parenthood's slaughter of the innocents...which is defended and funded by liberal Democrat politicians, BTW....is taking a political stand in today's political climate!

I have no problem with the fact that babies are being slaughtered and their body parts are being sold*. - r2

See, I can make ludicrous and unfair accusations* just like you can.... ;)

Here's a little tip...

You'll do more to prevent abortions by helping a poor single mother-to-be than by writing 10,000 letters to Congress.

Some of us want to have an impact I  real people and aren't concerned with being part of the ruling class. ;)

We do more than offer bloviating tips:
Our church began, back in the 80's, a crisis pregnancy center which is still very active today! It helps provide housing, healthcare and support for mothers and their babies!

We put our money where our mouth's are....liberals like to put other people's money into the government. And run their mouths... ;)

The only reason writing 10,000 letters to Congress doesn't work is because Congress is corrupt.

Abortion should be illegal.  Selling baby parts should be illegal.  Given that the legal status is unlikely to change anytime soon, then yes, the best way to combat abortion is to 1. protest it and 2. provide emotional and physical guidance and support to pregnant women.
