One interesting sidenote, it appears that FBCH isn't the only megachurch fond of giving their pastor standing ovations.

Ironically, that was prolly about the last time you contributed anything meaningful to the conversation of the FFF.

I just came across the story today.  If you don't think it's worth discussion, here's a novel thought, move on and comment on something that you think is worthy of dialogue.

But, you admit, in this Information Age it is 'old'....but I believe in my previous discussion on this issue, I thought Tebow was a PC Wimp..... :D

Some folk's infatuation with what a sports personality does or doesn't do is absolutely ridiculous.

Yes, in that context.  But I'd also argue that in this "information age" hyper-ADD childlike attention-span age that such an attitude cheapens discussion, because it turns everything into soungbytes.  There's a place for quips and one-liners, but a Christian forum generally should aspire to rise above such shallowness, usually, you shmuck!

Must have missed the original thread.  Could you point me to it or link me up?

I had NO idea...you jerk!  :D

And I believe it was discussed ad infinitum on FB and other places...but I said I thought Tebow was a PC Wimp!
I can't live up to your unrealistic expectations!

Like your infatuation with responding negatively anytime you post to a thread of mine?  Tebow, though a backup who didn't play a down, still makes the news, even today.  He's a lightning rod of controversy, for a variety of reasons, but it is undeniable that his public faith is still front and center of the media's attention.

Did you watch the youtube vids?  They said pretty much exactly what I (and apparently Tarheel) believes.  Tebow is a tremendous witness in many ways, a real public leading figure for Christian evangelism and his faith, but he miscalculated on this one.  He, like David Jeremiah, Jack Graham, and a host of others, should have stayed the course and kept his word, not shrunk back from controversy because of a secular media that doesn't want to hear evangelical truths about the exclusivity of Christ, gay marriage, or a host of other issues plaguing our culture.

The current choices to be whittled down, in no specific order, are:

1) North Myrtle
2) Disney
3) Hershey Pennsylvania

Hershey was ALAYboy's idea.  Go figure.  :D

Tim Tebow is a sports personality...nothing more...nothing less.

Charles Barkley said "I ain't a role model", which I disagreed with by virtue of his prominence in how kids adopt pop culture icons as such, but regardless of that, Tebow embraces his public leadership as more than just an athlete, your claim notwithstanding.

Funny, I don't see you speaking out publicly costing you your job or dollars in endorsements.... Typical hate spewing fundie... All talk no action

Well, what can I say?  I'm so sorry your sports hero has fallen from your grace and has caused you such distress.

Whatever.

If I am "distressed" then so are Jeffress and the folks on the links who said Tebow, though sincere, is misguided and mistaken.  Identifying other people's mis-steps doesn't mean that the identifiers are distressed, but whatever helps you sleep at night.

Welcome to the forum.  Can I assume from your avatar that you represent, at least in some respect, the LBGT community?

To address what you expressed about Tebow protecting his business interests, from a Christian perspective, our loyalty to Christ drives our faith and practices, not a utilitarian business ethic.  In other words Jesus said essentially "put my kingdom first, and all other things will be taken care for you".
