Partly because of that thread about whether or not he was saved, I was studying that chapter and in verse 23 it says:

Acts 8:23
For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

What exactly does the "gall of bitterness" refer to? This is something I've wondered about for years, I've never understood what it means. Other versions aren't much help, they usually say "poisoned by bitterness" or something to that effect, but that still doesn't make it any clearer what Peter meant by it.
