Sell the college

First great obstacle to face -- the multi-million dollar debt Schaap buried them with building his cathedral.  FBC owns lots of property in Hammond, but who would want it (location, location).

Schererville property must be worth a mint -- either Baptist City should go on the block, or HAC campus.  Enrollment being what it is, the two could be combined on the same property. 

Tough financial choices ahead, but if the new pastor leads them out of debt with some bold moves......good first step!
 
No don't sell the college ................it's priceless beside Bro Hyles statue will have to find another location LOL!
 
O hope they do not sell HAC. I have a lot of great memories from my time there. The most memorable, was the memory of me looking in my rear view mirror when I left the parking lot for the last time!  ;)

But seriously, I like the place. Liberty Square had the best cheeseburgers and french fries. The all you could eat biscuits and gravy were the bees knees too! Aside from that, there were some staff members that were really kind to me. Ray Highfill for one and a few others that worked around the college. I never really felt stressed being there and found it to be quite enjoyable.
 
groupie, As a college student if I had monies to eat in Liberty Square we would have been considered a wealthy student......I can't say I ever eat in there.......... :(
 
I think the idea of selling Baptist City has merit. There is no earthly reason why a shrinking church with a shrinking educational system and a massive debt should be keeping up four separate complexes. HAC is so small anymore there isn't any reason HB couldn't be moved there. As far as City Baptist, it just probably needs to close, unless JW can turn FBCH around much more quickly than I think he can.

I wasn't rich either back in the 70's but I loved the Egg and Cheese sandwiches at Liberty Square.  BTW i'm not rich now either.

I was blessed to fall into a business that took off for me from day one. With all the hours spent between church, bus route, school and work, I ate out nearly 3 meals a day. The business grew and so did my waistline. :(

It's funny I don't ever remember eating in Liberty Square now by husband did because he had monies.....LOL! I do remember eating a Whopper hamburger every Sunday night I think I weighted a 100 lbs wet..........LOL! The girls at college when I was there didn't have alot of money so Liberty Square wasn't on my things to do list. I think over the years it became a great food place.

Keep the college!  Who else would slave 8 or more hours on a Saturday plus all the hours on Sunday running buses and all the ministries that HAC students do and still PAY to do it?
 
Not a chance it will ever happen. 

A quick google search of the campus and the potential buyer will discover the truth about ghosts in the secret tunnel!  Haunted properties never sell well.

I almost fell off my chair laughing ...............the tunnels were a busy place LOL!

Believe it or not, I never knew about the tunnels.
 
They were well hid only by college students, and security..........well a few students found where they were and were caught by security...........
 
They are still there. The main tunnel goes under the auditorium. For many years the North half was lost and found, the South half was storage by Activities then the Dean of Women.

The other tunnel goes under the South hallway. It is as wide as the hallway, but no more that 4 feet tall, if that, and ends at the boiler room. It is for utilities (water, electric, phone and boiler heat). A person can still get through there, but the closer you get to the boiler room the more stuff you have to crawl over and under. The other end comes out right at the base of the South chapel stairs into the tunnel under the chapel.

The tunnel under the chapel has electric, and boiler heat (that is what is under that wood shelf/enclosure) as well, but is much larger when not crammed full of junk.

There are other neat little hideaways in addition to the tunnels.
 
I really don't do much with the college anymore. Has the attendance go e down that much? For sure I don't think the Jericho program will continue.

I cannot fathom such a question.  That school is the crowned prince of all educational institutions and the sole bastion of Christianity.  It is the only reason that America still exists.  The Satanists would like to buy the school so they could bring about the demise of Christianity.  The humanists would like to buy the school to bring about an end of Spiritual understanding. The liberals would like to buy the school so they can mock God and dance to their golden calf on the platform where Bro. Hyles once stood.  The communists would like to buy the school so they can remove God's blessing from America and finally control the land.  Other so-called IFB Bible colleges would like to buy the school just so they can pretend they are as good as HAC (When everyone knows they are not).  Some IFB preachers would like to buy the school so they could be proclaimed the next king of fundamentalism.  The residents of Lake County would gladly buy the campus just to keep the doors open because they need all those honest, hard working Bible college students in order to preserve the economy of the county.

Are you beginning to see the bigger picture?
