From an article at "Covenant Eyes" website:

Who is more likely to seek out pornography online? According to data taken from Internet users who took part in the General Social Survey:

•Men are 543% more likely to look at porn than females.
•Those who are politically more liberal are 19% more likely to look at porn.
•Those who have ever committed adultery are 218% more likely to look at porn.
•Those who have ever engaged in paid sex are 270% more likely to look at porn.
•Those who are happily married are 61% less likely to look at porn.
•Those with teen children at home are 45% less likely to look at porn.
•Regular church attenders are 26% less likely to look at porn than non-attenders, but those self-identified as “fundamentalists” are 91% more likely to look at porn.

I hope this doesn't turn into a fundy-bashing thread, but if the research is correct (and I suspect that it is) there's obviously a problem.  I heard about this a couple of days ago, and have been wondering why.  I have some thoughts I'll post later, but am wondering what others might attribute it too.

I doubt the stat is true. I do believe "porn" is a universal problem. The ONLY thing that stops it from being a problem with most people, is filters that can not be bypassed and computers/devices that are monitored. The ease of availability is the issue. Internet porn is worse than crack. If you could get crack like you got internet porn..... I hate to think what would happen.

I suspect the data is flawed. Its not likely a current IFB member would identify himself as such when taking a survey about P*RN. Is it a problem: YES  Are too many people involved in P*RN: YES  Are We 91% more likely to practice porn viewing than other qroups and religions: I highly doubt it.

My guess is others who take the survey who are not  Fundamentalists  are identifing themselves as such.  What subset of any religion is hated more these days then  Fundamentalists . What type of data verification is used in such a survey.

This just in: 91% of people who will censor the word "porn" will not protect our tender ears by censoring "f*ndamentalist."

I am just curious as to whether or not there are any other guys on here like me. I have never been into porn, I actually don't see the attraction for more than a few seconds. But, and a real BIG but here: I am extremely grateful that the internet revolution and computers came after I was over 45!

I am reminded of an episode from Everybody loves Raymond. His father all of a sudden lost his sense of taste. Nobody could figure out why until he revealed that he was taking some kind of pills to help his sex life. He said, "I am not called up to the plate very much anymore but if I am I want to know that I can swing the bat." He finally told his wife what the problem was and then said, "If it's all the same to you I would rather have the food!"

Some of you guys will get this when you hit 50!

Don't fool yourself, when I was engaged to my wife, she caught me looking at it when I left it on my home computer and she came over my house when I was at work and she saw it. Needless to say she was devastated and we almost didn't go through with the wedding.
I found out at counseling that there were several men at our assembly struggling with it too. We all went on an accountability software, which I'm still on. Thank God I have  had victory over it and my marriage is stronger than ever, but don't think your above it,we are able to fall into it, just look at David's example

It really depends on which demographic you are talking to.

Covenant Eyes, there is a link earlier in the thread. I have my best friend and my wife as accountability partners

CleanInter.net is also good service.  Proxy service filters and reports.  On this one, the proxy service is the admin and they control what is accessed or not.  Group out of Fairhaven.

Norton family is very good.  Records every search term, video watched, webpage visited, app downloaded, text sent, personal information sent, time on and so on.  Very customizeable for the accountability leader.  Immediate emails are sent to any email address for any breach or attempted breach, or just about anything else you want.  Regular reports are also sent.

Cleaninter.net is run by Paul Payton, a Baptist, member of Fairhaven BC, who trusted Christ while in the USAF.  He is a giver.  Down to earth.  A big blessing to his church.  And, importantly, the service works.

Fundamentalists are probably more likely to confess to watching porn because it's a big deal to them. Many porn-watchers just think it's just a normal thing like eating or exercising and not something they talk about. They may also not be answering surveys because they are too busy watching porn.

Thank God, He saved me at an early age, Porn always disgusted me.

This honestly makes no sense at all.

I'd think fundamentalists who were into that sort of thing would strive to keep it a closely guarded secret for fear of having someone they know find out about it.

I am in a n accountability group with three other guys. At the end of each meeting we go through a list of questions. One of them is "have you exposed yourself to any explicit material this week?"

One fellow struggled with the question because he considered "Dancing With The Stars" to fall into the category and he couldn't convince his wife to stop watching the show. He lamented having to go to his room to avoid having to answer the accountability question with a yes.

Maybe fundies have a broader definition of "porn" forcing them to admit to watching it.  8)

That's why fundies never make love standing up.  Someone might walk in on them and think they're dancing.
