I've heard it preached that Israel rejected God the father when they beheaded John the baptist. Rejected God the Son when they crucified Him. Rejected the Holy Spirit when they stoned Stephen. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Herod, who beheaded John the Baptist, was not popular with Israel. He was a puppet ruler, a figurehead for Rome. I doubt very many Jews of the time would have said he was acting on their behalf in anything.

God the Don? Like Vito and Michael Corleone?  :P

Most Jews at the time believed John to be a prophet (Matt 21:26).  Mainly it was the religious establishment who rejected him.

Actually this sounds like a 3 point sermon outline that looks good on paper and sounds good as it is preeeched...but as far as being biblical....nope.  This type of approach is dangerous, because I believe its origin is in the mind of the preacher/teacher, without being in the Scripture.
